Hi,

I"m quite new to how all this buying and reselling of domain names. I have quite a few rather "good" names I'd like to auction/sell off. Can I list them on various sites or only on one site? So how does it work? I have a good name for sale. I register on a particular resale site and if I"m lucky someone will buy it off me? what about deleted and backorders? Where does that come in? Do resale sites buy from each other? E.G. If pool.com sees a domain name on TDNAM.com that it thinks is of value, do they buy it off them and then resell it on their site?

Sorry if my questions are BORING! Appreciate some kinda advice.

read read and read some more at this site, you cant really expect someone to sit you down and tell you everything

but here is a start for you, pool and tdnam are expired domain auction sites, pool you have to backorder the name to get in the auction, tdnam you just need to be a paid member, and no they dont buy eachothers names

I am new at this too. Can you explain tdnam?
So all of the listings on tdnam are names that are about to/or have already expired? I didn't know that. So who gets the money, tdnam or the owners?

tdnam is an expired domain name auction site

tdnam gets the money, as they are expired names at Godaddy not renewed by whoever owned them

I don't mean to hijack this thread abucan. I have been reading for the past 2 days. I checked out tdnam and thought that those were names being auctioned by the owners, not godaddy. So, is that ethical? I mean, with goodgirls being sold for 35xxx+, the previous owners must really feel like sh%*.

Depends on which part of tdnam your reffering to as domain owners can sell there domains there. The Expired domain auction portion for expired GD domains are also on the block...as for goodgirls.com...it was an auction held by the domain owner.....at 34 k not meeting reserve a great example of bid madness....

Maybe a one thread (which can be pinned/made sticky) in which an experienced person explains the whole thing, would be handy. As there will be more newbies coming to the forum, and searching through the whole forum can be very exhausting without getting a full clear image. We've all been rookies in the beginning, let's give this man a little hand, once he gets the basics he will get much more out of the existing topics anyway.

Jan. of this year I was in the same position you are in.
I owned maybe 10 names at the time when I found this forum and started reading and getting my questions answered.
I now own over 300 names and kinda feel like a veteran sometimes----I know there is so much more to learn but this forum is awesome.
Read and ask questions.

2 months ago, I didn't know anything about domains! I remember visiting Godaddy.com for the first time. I saw all these adds and stuff -- I was like D-: omg! You need 3 brains to understand this!

Now I have about 20 domains, had some good sales so far. I'm quite confident now and still learning.

as a newcomer i am interested in the deal with halvarez, who i gather is a cybersquatter who attempts to outbid hardworking freelancers like myself as well as high-rollers for whom money's no object. I am posting this so that i can go to the forums to learn more about this crap.

Hmmmm, THanks for not rubbishing me off. Yes, it is mind-boggling as a newbie in anything! Who the hell knew that one had to manually enter whois privacy into the cart on Godaddy during checkout to get the buy three and get privacy free??? Ipower.com does that automatically so you can imagine my frustration when all my sales support replies from Godaddy said they couldn't help me once the transaction is done! In the end, I called them and this "good" guy gave it to me. So I was happy :)

I've bought 20 names in the past couple of days and have been reading up as much as I can on this site. Apart from Sedo, what other sites are really good for auctioning off domain names? I don't know, but TDNAM doesn't seem too hot. So many domain names with 0 bids. Anyway, I'll read on....
