the Isle of Man has just opened up their second-level domain and they are hoping to attract the Instant Messaging community (not exactly well publicised though, eh?)

each domain costs £40 to register with the premium one and two letter names going for £995 and £495 per year respectively. nice if your name is K.im , T.im or J.im

Almost 72 hours. They haven't been responding to emails either for the last 24 hours, so I'll guess they're not in the Saturday and likely will not be during Sunday either.

Do you have them pointing to sedo or other nameservers?
It took sedo awhile to resolve mine - and just since yesterday stats
were available when you click the more info button.
So it did take awhile for it to resolve completely.
When I emailed them, it took a day and a half for them to
get back to me. But they did and they were very helpful
Actually my domain resolved around the same time they got back
to me...lol
It shouldn't take long....

I decided to pass on bid.im myself, but my thoughts were related to IM. Ebay is coming out with tools to allow bidding and outbid notices via cell phone and their acquision skype. Bidding last minute is almost a necessity, and IM is an instant means of doing so. I believe bidding or notices of auctions via the IM client is a potential future use as well. Other auctions and auction tool makers will probably follow. even if that doesn't happen, bid is still a good keyword and a nice TLA as well.

Thank you for the thoughts. I have them pointed to my own nameservers (hosted on my server) which just yesterday resolved a .com purchase of mine within 30 minutes.

Their previous emails to me have been friendly and quick. My thoughts are that they're just out of office now.

All in all, though, I don't like their domain DNS update services. Why don't they allow you to add an IP address to your nameservers? Granted, I don't get around all that much, but I've never encountered anything like that before...

48 hours for me, and nothing yet. However, Sedo parking does show 1 unique each of two of them, so it must have resolved somewhere so far.

I noticed the sedo park page without the ads came on first, then about
another day or so later for the stats (more info) page to resolve,
it kept saying page isin't parked right, click here...
but all seems to work and I'm too scared to change them now... :hehe:

I have a hard time getting rid of INSURANCE.ac or TRAVEL.gl for XXX mid. and those are premium keywords.

Dont fall into the cctld trap -register only premium keywords.

I see .im as having an advanage over some other ccTLD's. It's an independent territory within the UK, which is an English speaking country. It also has virtually no restrictions, where many other ccTLD's do have ownership restrictions of some kind. The IM ending also may have some value related to instant messaging in the same way .tv does for television.
