The new Snapnames public auction feature is pretty handy for those of us who can't get those low $$ valued names when they drop.

It'll be an interesting development. I've already signed up for three auctions with a starting bid of only $9USD.

It looks like the system will work like this - basically if someone does not think a Snapname priority partner name is worth $60 (no bids) I'm pretty sure snapnames will grab it when it drops and start a public auction at $9.00.

Check it out. Add some rep if you beat me on my auctions after you read this post!!!!

There's some info on the front page. On the right side of the page is a banner - it says PUBLIC AUCTION - NEW. If you're not seeing that refresh when you load the page something must be wrong.

Just do a search and you'll see the public auctions. You'll notice them because they don't have a $60 starting price!

I'm a SnapNames newbie, so please pardon me while I ask a few questions:

1. Is there any way to see only the public auctions? (The lists I'm seeing are almost all $60 starts, with just a few $9 ones sprinkled in.)

2. How do people fail to renew these domains that sell for thousands of dollars on places like SnapNames?

3. Why do people pay many thousands of dollars for names there, when lots of names that are as good (or better) go begging at far lower prices on domain forums?

Thanks in advance for any wisdom you can share.
