Hi,

I have recently finished my site www.namecake.com (It's also in my signature) and was hoping to get some feedback from you guys.
Do you like the look, what could be improved, what don't you like?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Looks nice. A+ Mate

Clean and with a good layout.
subtle colors not to distract or turn off visitors.
Great generic and un suggestive mascot.

like the transition with out the white page flash.

Quick menu mouse over effect with out a miss.
Subtle mouseover effects on links.
Clear row colors and name separation in lists.

I'm liking the contrast the red font offers with the pale tones in the color pallet.

My only, humble, suggestion is the Domain name "buy this domain" page. I would put the offer submission at the top of the page and move the content below. The is also a bit devoid graphical element other than logo. I would love to see a couple of small mascot icons, in various positions (poses).

Great job and much success!

Thanks for your posts and kind words.
I wanted a site that was unassuming, but also had a professional look.
Thanks namenut for the suggestions โ€“ Iโ€™ll have a think about them tonight.
Gazzip โ€“ no I didnโ€™t build it myself โ€“ had a developer do it โ€“ building out seven other sites as well, so itโ€™s a busy time.
The logo came from a member here in one of the competitions I ran โ€“ there is some serious talent at Namepros.
Iโ€™m now working with another member to do the off page SEO โ€“ which is such a steep learning curve. When I came into this game I thought Domaining was hard โ€“ but developing and SEO are pushing my grey stuff to itโ€™s limits.

Thanks Guys.
Namenut - good luck - they are very good to work with - very helpful.

I was also hoping for a few opinions on my main domain selling letter (this is to get the buyers opening their wallets).
Content, format (which i'm not sure about) - have i missed anything out?

Wow I love the layout of your page. Its very crisp and clean. The colors are a good choice, not leaning to the overly flamboyant. If you did the whole site yourself then props because it looks like it came rather nice. Now just add the slogan "Let them eat cake" and you should be all set.

Other than what namenut mentioned, I would also add a little more padding on the navigation tabs. The first one, "Buy Domains" runs right up to the left edge of the tab and I don't think that looks good. Other than that you have a great looking site :tu:

Looks excellent. Love the graphics, layout, color scheme and navigation.

One criticism...consider changing the font.

You did well overall.

Thanks for the posts guys.
Labrocca (if you're still reading) - Which font do you think is the best for giving this sort of information. I also think it needs changing, but i'm not sure to what.

I'm also starting a blog tomorrow (I know - another one.) So tune in if you're interested.

I love this layout, too. I partly agree with labrocca and think that i.e. a subtitle of Namecake.com should not be grey and so modest as it is a kind of self-promotion and should be better visible - not too vivid but anyway a kind of light color; also these titles in a row as Domains, Articles, etc. should have a font at lease 1 point bigger.
I also guess that there will be a Privacy Statement included as you're going to collect a personal data ?! (but it seems to be obvious anyway).
Nice work!

I'm right in line with everyone else; Great layout! Very creative logo!
Easy to read and look at.
Something screams Joomla to me ... ;)

Only thing that comes to mind, use this creative logo of yours and apply it as favicon as well.

Very nice job!

M.

Edit: Come to think of it; try the font (written) part of your logo with a capitalized "C" in NameCake. This would close the visual gap between your logo where both letters are caps to the written part. If it doesn't pan out, no biggie - it's really just a nuance.

Firstly, I'd like to tell you what a great name I think you have there!

Very nice layout, and logo! Easy to look at (as Mike pointed out). I do feel it's a little cluttered (could just be the fonts).

Great job! Best of luck.
