Hi there,

Could anyone please suggest how my site diamonds.net.au could be improved for SEO? I think I have completed the basics but it still seems to be lagging and has a pagerank of 0. :'(

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Martin.

How long has it been live? If you've started basic SEO it might take some time for the traffic to start flowing in.

Rest assured, the site looks very well built! I don't see a site map anywhere? If you don't have one, it might be a good idea to add one?

Thanks for your help.

The site has been active in this form for 4-5 months so I'm not sure if that is enough time dezinerite.

Mike, will look into a site map as well thanks.

Martin.

New sites are sandboxed by Google. Sometimes for six months. Even if the domain has been active with a site, if there was a major overhaul that is grounds for sandboxing also.

You are giving the SE's a little bit to feed on, but not much. The site is rather barren. There is little if anything here worth linking to, so that will hurt your PR.

The design itself is on the weak side and looks low budget. I just took a look at the larger jewelry store's designs, and I don't think it would cost you much to match most of them.

Now that I look at it again, I don't think this is an actual store. They definitely aren't selling anything on the site, and there isn't any mention of a physical store. Kind of bizarre that he would want to rank better in the SE's with no realistic way to monetize the site.

I think you need to improve your title. Select the keywords, and start both on the page and off the page SEO.

Good luck!

Hya Martina,

Your site looks nice. Subtle color scheme with a warm welcoming feel.
I like the smooth page transition. And I'm glad to see a Simple mouse over
effect for a classy touch. I like the Diamond heart shaped graphic too.

I don't like the main menu bar. Too many links and running off the page.
The word "Education" is a poor menu keyword choice. I would go with
"About Us" and "About Diamonds". The SEO crawly things will first see:

Name / meta ... then your menu:

Home / education / the Vault / quote ....

A bit confusing and no mention of what you do. I would go with:

Home / Showroom / Pricing / About Diamonds / About Us

I would also see your CSS folder and adjust the <div class="menubar">
for align center to align left. Or trim down the menu size so it isn't running off.

Body text would look better if "justify" is used. This would square up the right
side and add some spacing through out the body.

Stock photos could be a little more uniform in size before cropping and
background gradients.

The 4 C's chart needs more attention. It should almost be a graphic. It
is a weak effort currently. Almost like an after thought.

SEO

From what I can see you might be confusing the spydies a bit. I might have
some one do your meta tags. Your using periods, dashes and bad spacing
as well as redundant keywords.

Your body text is lacking a good keyword to content ration and again
redundant (guarantee) verbiage. Your body text is almost devoid any
of your meta keywords. You should have your meta tags and page content
verbiage coincide a bit. And can differ from you home page.

Payment options or system is vague (as previously mentioned) and hard for
one to understand. Perhaps some example prices next to or near your photo
examples would better assist the visitor to understand your pricing schedule.

No clear contact options. Other than a quote.

Just an opinion here .... I'm no expert. As I said the site looks good and has
a nice feel.

Good luck ...

As Mike Said - A SiteMap would be very beneficial.
What kind of traffic do you get on the site? How many people have actually asked you for a quote? It doesnt look like you can buy anything on the site - without taking the time to request more information. Without the ability to put an item in a cart with the choice to purchase right then - the time someone spends on the site will not be very long. Most people do not want to wait for someone to get back to them. You would greatly increase the time people stay on the site (and the page visits) if you list prices with the items and offer a shopping cart.
