I don't know if this is a new scam - it's new to me. BEWARE! Someone said they wanted to buy a domain name that was taken. I thought okay... perhaps they don't even know how to lookup a whois or something. I looked up the whois - it was all fake info in there except an active email address. So, I shot off an email tell the owner that someone was interested in buying the name. As it turns out the person who posted the wanted domain name was the owner of the domain name. (Two different email addresses but same spelling and grammatical errors in mail.) I think he(or she) was going to try to get me to buy it to resell it -then back out on the buying end - leaving me stuck with a crappy domain! Has anyone else run into something like this?

...Or perhaps he's an idiot? That would explain the grammatical errors as well as the inability to look up a whois.
