Hello,

Are the new gTLDs getting more and more accepted and becoming more and more sought after?

I've received bids on 6 of my new gTLDs the last 48 hours from 5 different people: 2 .TIPS. 1 .CARDS, 1 .RED, 1 .DIRECT, 1. GOLF. Two are officially sold, the other are subject to negotiation.

Anyone here experience the same?

That's great! So where do you get offers from? Are they all parked?

@kohsamui
from what I've noticed on other threads as well, you seem to do pretty well with the ngTLDs
I'm more inclined to believe that it's you the sales factor and not the ngTLDs :)

seriously, whoever doesn't see that the new extensions are the thing, they're plainly blind
If there were only a few of them appearing, then I'd say it's just a short-lived trend
but with so many out there, it's definitely a whole new concept

gTlDs has great potential. I'm optimistic about them having an enormous endusers

Yep, they are clearly picking up pace.. was quite sceptical about the new gtld's in the beginning but now seeing it myself with the amount of offers i am lately getting for mine (and yes, i do have premium new gtld combos and plan to invest in some more, so it may help)..

I have a rather large gTLD portfolio by now with very high quality names like cruise /.tips and I have received only lowball offers so far, not one serious offer but we'll see how it goes. Historically I make most my sales in December and January. But I also have much higher price expectations due to the quality of my names (1 word, fitting extension, cheap renewal, extremely sought after keywords)

Where are you listing your names aside from Sedo, Afternic and Flippa? Any other places you advertise names at?

Not in my experience (luckily I only have a few).
I guess my names are too crappy to receive offers... (like the one in my sig)

Although I sold one .xyz (very popular brandable name) for $200 right after Google's announcement. I consider it a fluke.

I might register a few .web names IF they ever actually get released but for 1000+ other extension - selling enough of them to cover the renewal fees (usually above $30) is very difficult.

But, hey, we still have Chinese with ridiculously deep pockets so who knows ;)

Also, kohsamui - are they numerics by any chance?

You need truly premium keyword + gtld combos in the new gtld's to attract attention and offers already at this early stage.. else no wonder if it stays quiet for you..

e.g. some of mine, such as Aerial.Services & Aerial.Works are highly desirable in the UAS/UAV/drone space.. therefore the attention to them..

Well done !

I think the successful release of .online and news of alphabet.abc has put extra confidence in investors lately.

My new gtld's are getting a lot more uniques lately ... it is quite early in the game but it looks like this train is going to keep rolling ....

Hey guys.

I personally thought that end users would have no idea about ngtlds especially here in New Zealand. Yesterday I heard on the radio one of my customers advertise one of our products on a .Delivery ngtld...

When I got back to the office i typed it out NZhealth.Delivery and low and behold I was surprised it was a very good website.

I guess what it comes down to, if an end users who doesn't understand domains or websites and uses a web developer and the web developer says you can build a website on a different extension with a catchy name for his products they will take their advice.

I gave the owner a call this afternoon and said i heard his new ngtld website advertised on the radio about one of our products and asked how sales were? He replied "sales have been bloody great". I took me by surprise... I don't own any .Delivery domains and don't plan to. However I can say that he does use his cctld QuinsPharmacy.co.nz which is a separate site and his new .Delivery site is working very well for him.

It was surprising because his advert was on the radio and people are typing in the new extension and not going to cctld .co.nz by default.

COM is boring, you cant brand it, you cant make it yours because everyone is using it. Thats no way to stand out.

The thing is, everyone has a high affinity now for this medium called the Internet. Everyone has bought something online. You no longer need the trust of a COM to brand your product. And you dont need it for marketing purposes, because many large campaigns have proven over and over again that other extensions are even more memorable. No one will forget mega.nz. A site like RetailMeNot.coupons would be even more memorable than RetailMeNot.com because it fits. You can make the extension fit your product and thats a huge selling point. It instantly shows users, hey I am all about coupons, I am all about travel or tech etc.

So, COM is losing relevance. They average sales price is between 1 and 4k and we will see a lot less of those 20k+ sales now. Just look at this weeks sales report on DNJ. As usual the highest is a numeric domain. 5 out of 20 highest sales are not COM, that's a quarter and this will continue into 2016 and 2017. Just sit tight on your names. By 2020 you will be glad you did.

A bid is not a sale. A sale without a price is useless. It could have been a $20 sale, not a big deal.

COM is boring, you cant brand it,

haha, damn. Crazy stuff people post. Let me introduce you to a sales chart:

Yes, I can see the extensions gaining traction.

Like @kohsamui I have recently sold one domain for $600 (20x what I paid for it 8 months ago) in a new TLD and had 2 offers (one being $1,200 which I turned down) on another (within the last 3 weeks). And these where in the more obscure .HOW extension.

So there is interest out there and it is probably growing as people are starting to scramble to find a place to put their money (banks at 0% interest rates and maybe soon going negative is not the answer any more).

Just my thoughts and experiences.

Cheers

I think it will take tumw but eventually people will be open to all these new extensions. I once had a three letter .agency and gave it to someone for free after I found no seller lol. Then a couple of days back, I registered some .xyz that I plan to develop but if I get offers then I might sell.

So these days , I do see pwople bidding i. These new extenaions si they are gaining momentum.

Why not ask instead of guessing, if interested. I got offers on low to high $XXX on all except one, on which I got a 3000 dollar offer.
