The TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon; one of the most prestigious hackathons in the country was held at Pier 48,San Francisco over the weekend of 10-11 September. The event saw over 60% of the teams using a new domain extension to host their hackathon projects on including overall winners - http://www.pointshop.space.
With over 140 teams showcasing their hacks, the judges had a tough time picking the most innovative and unique project with the best scope for success. PointShop.space was adjudged the overall winner. The app uses augmented reality to give users highly contextual information about any product by showing live information via the camera. Anuj, from the PointShop team explained that [they] "are extremely happy with the choice of the domain name. It showcases exactly what the product does. You point and shop, in space!"
