"Winner of Wix’s SEO Hero challenge explains strategy"
"SEO is a very complex universe and it’s difficult to master all the aspects, but there’s one focus area that should always be considered: Google loves businesses that stand out. I understood that and did everything possible to ‘stand out’, and choosing a .TECH domain extension was one of the ways to do it. Additionally, the new domain extensions offer excellent opportunities to find a keyword-rich domain name which is short, brandable and more relevant to the product. Also, do bear in mind that before thinking about Google rankings and SEO, one must remember that it’s important to build a credible brand that will stand the test of time. Choosing a suitable website address, which will become the brand’s virtual identity, is of utmost importance. The new domain extensions, thus, open a plethora of opportunities for winning at brand building, as well as at SEO, as has been proven by my win against competitors from around the world.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
When I see news like this I realize that the ngtds are a solid investment... :xf.smile:
And if I am one who has only mediocre dot coms in my portfolio I take fear... :nailbiting:

Nothing like real life experience: My personal experience with .tech

The guy is just advertising a crappy hyphenated .tech domain :xf.frown:
Truth is, the same result could have been achieved with any other TLD...

SEO is not everything... and if new TLDs really provided a competitive advantage then SEOers would be buying like crazy. Everybody would know that new extensions are the Viagra of Internet marketing.

The problem among the so-called SEO experts is tunnel vision: doing SEO while discarding branding.

Seo-hero.tech is the winner of a competition with rules.(Money prize = $50.000 & worldwide competition) The problem for seo-hero.tech is the Win of a competition and seo-hero.tech win the competition. Do you understand the situation? hahaha.

I repeat:This news is very very very bad for owners of mediocre .coms... :nailbiting:

They gave contestants 4 months to develop a website around the arbitrary term "seo hero". Outside of two results, the first two pages are all in regards to the contest itself. If you had any sense of how SEO works, it's about competing for keywords people actually search for, not artificial terms that won't matter in a year. The winner's website appears 5th in searching for "seo hero", and what a surprise, the top 4 are .com.

FYI, Google's take on tlds further disprove your claims that the extension matters:

Q: How will new gTLDs affect search? Is Google changing the search algorithm to favor these TLDs? How important are they really in search?

A: Overall, our systems treat new gTLDs like other gTLDs (like .com and .org). Keywords in a TLD do not give any advantage or disadvantage in search.

I'll never get how people convince themselves that they understand SEO and argue new extensions create EMDs when Google results prove and Google itself explains how they have no impact.

You should all change your usernames to "Mr. Fantastic" for all the reaching you do ;)

http://domainnamewire.com/2017/04/12/20-billion-company-uses-new-tld-website/

This $20 billion company uses a new TLD for its website, and…

"DXC Technology is a merger of CSC and HP Enterprise Services. The $20 billion market cap company trades under the ticker symbol DXC.

What’s surprising is that it seems to be basing its business on a .technology domain name. As the listener pointed out, DXC.com now forwards to DXC.technology.
It’s one thing to base your business on a new TLD, but I’m extra surprised because the company does not own DXC.tech.

I’m not sure if you noticed originally that this is a .technology domain, not .tech. .Technology is a Donuts domain. .Tech is the more popular domain offered by Radix.

So a $20 billion company is using DXC.technology, paid a big sum for DXC.com, and doesn’t own DXC.tech!

Now, the merger just went through so the company’s branding and domain choice might be in flux. But based on the logo (pictured) the company seems to be embracing .technology."
