Just heard that Rick Latona changes his domain sales newsletter to an auction format. I find that an interesting move considering that others stress the increasing importance of fixed price listings. What do you think?

Seems some of todays names got already quite a few bids.

Last time I checked, ePayments.com closed at $16.5k and Practicing.com is at $25k with less than an hour to go.

Not a bad start considering the time since the announcement and the closing time of auctions.

What's going to be interesting is that the auction will be of names that are all vetted for quality. This will attract eyeballs.

I always read Latonas newsletter, because I always know there will be good names in there- potentially, something I might be interested in. I no longer even bother to read the BIDO "Upcoming Auctions", etc, since it's all basically dross.

I've always felt that the first, most important dynamic of any domain sale is quality. Then, whatever comes after that, as far as how the sale is conducted, is basically a sideshow. Latona likes money, so obviously, he's going to incline towards the faster, more liquid format. Others who like hope and dreams more than they like money would prefer static listings; where they could toss up their names and hold out forever, wishing-upon-the-end-user-star.

I like the auction (and IMO, even though I'm not much of a .net guy, I believe those two state.net's were real bargains)

Just put a bunch of low bids on today's names. Winning quite a few but sure it won't last. Was able to look at some basic stats for the domains and posted it on FreshAvails.com. Includes Search and Ad Competition statistics. As usual, the non-.coms do the best but there are a few nice .coms in there. Some of the best ones look to have some possible TM issues so be forwarned.
