I am new to the buying and selling of newly registered domains. I would like more detail on the 60 Day ICANN transfer hold after a new domain has been registered. I obviously do not want to violate any rules or am not trying to learn how to cheat any system. I would just like to know how people work with this or has this rule changed?

I have heard to that if the domain is transferred within the same registrar that there is waiting period. Is this correct or a false statement?

Any tips of understanding the 60 day wait period or tips for flipping newly registered domains?

Thank you!

Hi

basically...60 day rule, prohibits the transfer of a domain name from one registrar to a different registrar, within that time period.

you can however, "push" or transfer ownership, of the domain to another account holder within the SAME registrar where you registered it, within that time period....if that registrar has that option for it's users.

the latter is how most domainers sell domains to others within 60 days of registration.

Note: the same 60 day rules applies to any domain that has been transferred to another registrar, in that, that domain cannot be transferred again to a different registrar for 60 days.

in essence, you have to wait 60 days every time a name is transferred from one registrar to another.

Note 2: some registrars (gobdiddly.com) may have their own internal policy regarding pushes, account to account transfers and the effects of "change of contact details", that may affect your ability to move a domain.

imo...

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I had been coming around to that conclusion, but did not want to assume what would be possible. I currently register with Moniker, which does not have any set policies that avoid a transfer within 60 days.

Thank you again!

Yes, sorry, I meant that they allow domains to be pushed within itself during the 60 days. Transferring out of Moniker is still on hold for 60 days.

Yes, a push at the same registrar is possible.
As mentioned above, certain registrars (win wink) lock down the domain for another 60 days, as if it were a new registration.

Also note that the 60-day freeze does not apply to all extensions. Many ccTLDs don't have such a rule.

One registrar which is locking domains for another 60 days after pushing the domain to new owner is Godaddy.com
