New Afternic interface Advanced Search feature flaw

I just noticed this and have notified them but other members may want to check this for yourselves. Here is the message I sent their service team...

After Afternic's recent modificiations, the Advanced Search feature no longer works the way it should because it forces the potential buyer to select a category. Many domains are unclassified and the classification system forces sellers to select only one category. So unless a buyer searches over a broader range they will miss many domains which should appear in the results. I try to classify my higher-end domains but it is too time consuming to classify all the domains I have listed at $299 which individually have a low likelihood of finding a buyer.

yeah, i also noticed this glitch...the problem is that it searches the top category by default (which is "Acronyms") - you cannot just search "All categories". If you didn't know this and were searching for a keyword like "bed", then it would return no results because the "bed" keyword domains would all bein the "Furniture" category...

The site also seems a lot slower??

I have pretty much given up on using Afternic for anything right now. Still have a ton of domains listed there, I assume they will email me if any are sold. No interest in monitoring my domains with the new format. Long live Sedo.

PS. It LOOKS great, just lost a LOT of functionality, like offer views.

Yes I like the offer view stat as well even though I prefer an offer to an offer view :)

Another thing I notice which has changed is the ability to make multiple domain price changes (perhaps there is another way but the old functionality is gone).

I used to prefer Afternic's filter to SEDO's because SEDO's often doesn't show domains over 15-16 characters unless you type in the entire search phrase.

jjtanzi, thank you for that comment! With any new design there is always a period of time where the kinks are worked out - regardless of beta testing. The design looks GREAT and I look forward to the changes being made!

Take care and thank you.

Afternic Update

All:

Pete Lamson here - I also work at Afternic.

We are working through our list of post launch corrections - thought you might like a further update on where we stand ...

Everything listed below will be corrected by 6/4/09. Some fixes will roll out sooner

1. Domain Statistics; view visits, bids, and watched users across entire portfolio
2. View more than 25 domains in "My Domains"; 25, 50, 100, etc.
3. Filter by Listing Status through "My Domains"
4. Column Sorting bug through "My Domains"
5. Pagination bug when using the quick filter links (letters, e.g. "S")
6. Advanced search without selecting a category

Thanks for your patience - see you at Afternic!

Hi Pete,

thanks for the comments, much appreciated. I'd also like to add that the overall speed of the site has reduced substantially...for example, after editing one domain it takes a good 30 seconds or so just to refresh my domain list before i can do anything else. The javascipt editing windows are also a bit buggy in that they dont open first time with every click, but i can live with that...

The site speed though is a real killer for me...i hope that can be improved.

PS: i have tried on my work 50Mbps connection and my home cable connection - both slow.

Joexbl:

Thanks for this - greatly appreciated. We are working through all known issues, with releases being shipped almost daily to make sure we are performing as our memebers rightly expect.

I will make sure this issue is addressed - and please keep the feedback coming.

Hi jjtanzi and Pete,
Nice to know you are here listen to us.

Can you kindly tell me how to close my domains listed on Afternic in Bulk? Lots of my domains have been sold actually and it is a hard work for me to remove them from my listing one by one

Thanks in advance
