Actually I discovered this one time when I moved one of my domains out. Here's how it happened:
1. I called them one time to check if they got my reply to their email confirmation.
2. The agent who talked to me said she checked and they didn't get it (now why am I not surprised?).
Now the next part is the surprise....
3. She checked and saw it's still open, meaning I can still confirm the transfer via email if I wanted to. But she told me she can access the request and confirm it on my behalf since I'm the admin contact.
4. I told her to go ahead. She said she accessed it & confirmed it, telling me to check tomorrow if it's transferred & giving me a ticket number to confirm the call.
Lo and behold, I checked a couple of hours later and saw it was indeed being transferred, though it ended up in Go Daddy a few days later.
Hmmm, this is new. But at least they gave me another option to confirm the transfer rather than run the risk of their not getting my reply to their confirmation email.
Give it a try. By the way, they changed their system in such a way that they created what they call the Primary Contact.
They say the PC has full domain access and can now confirm or deny transfers, not the admin contact anymore.
Whatever....
