They're all so funny because they're all true!

Haven't received any emails from them because I've never used them before. NetSol sucks IMO.

New marketing strategy

I can confirm what gazzip said.

I've just received a similar email from Network Solutions, about a domain name that I searched there a while ago.

It seems that it's a new marketing strategy used by Netsol.

After doing some quick research, I found out that Netsol are actually using eDialog, an international company specialized in "intelligent email marketing" (ed10.net if you're interested) for this new marketing campaign.

All their mailing lists are managed by eDialog which uses the data you put into Netsol whois to send you these emails.

To be clear: You searched for these domains on NetSol, and then they offered them to you? Or was this the list of results sent out to everyone regardless of what they had searched for?

That's actually been going on for as long as I remember. I still have their email
for a name I searched on their site about a year ago, and it's still available.

For lack of a better term, it's a "shopping cart hold" application. You search for
the domain name on their site, find it available, you didn't register it but you've
maybe logged into your account, then they'll email you saying it's still available
and ripe for the taking.

It's a smart marketing move, especially if it's converting prospects into buyers.
I'd imagine it's been working for a long time or they'd probably stop it if it's not
producing the desired results.

As to whether one would argue if it's spam, I'd venture it may not be if what I
explained here only works by creating an account with them. Part of making a
NetSol account involves clicking the checkbox beside the "I agree to all their
terms" thing, but at least one's account can allow them to opt-out.

HA, maybe the laugh is on me then ?? - I did register about a dozen for a laugh when we first heard about them doing it but to be perfectly honest -

I really don't remember doing those ones - maybe I did ?????? :-/ I'm usually pretty good a remembering domains.

Hmmm, I guess I must have checked them ages ago, I'll log in and see if they show anywhere.

Because I did'nt recognise or remember any of them I though they where names that other people had searched and everyone was getting similar emails sent.

It's looking like I might be the BIG NUMPTY on this one !

I have just received the same sort of email from Netsol that Gazip did. When it all hit the fan recently with Netsol front-running and "reserving" any domain searches, many of us "searched" for domains on Netsol just to see if they would hold them. A ton of domains like "NetsolCanGo (insert name of bodily function here) Itself.com" must have been held by Netsol for ticked-off domainers. All the ones I had "searched" for were now being re-offered to me in this perky email from Netsol. What a monumental waste of time, energy and resources on the part of Netsol!
