.us .net or .us better for forums?

Hey,

When the .com of a forum name is not available, would you grab the .net or the .us? What if the forums can easily apply just to the US? Which extension do you think is more valuble in that case?

.net is better anytime unless it's related to the site name.. Keywords and forums that are related to nothing really is better with .net

Yeah, so do I. I think .net sounds cooler for forum names, as most forums are more user networks rather than commercial sites.

US is definately better. You can get memorable
keyword names for the price of a registration fee.
Right now jumble.us is selling in auction and it looks
like it is going for $20. Jumble has an overture of
11191. Have you ever seen a net keyword
of 6 letters and overture over 10,000 selling that cheap?
And once the general public becomes accustomed to
dot us, the value of such names will skyrocket.

.us for a forum concerned with US traffic, easily. .net if you plan on having a forum with more international traffic.

lol, well, I'm not so much of a domain 'philanthropist', if you will, as someone trying to start a successful forum :lol:

Got the .net, even though my domain pertains mainly to the United States.

I really can't imagine a situation where IF the name is available in both extensions and the plan is for active use/development, with at least some amibivalence as to which extension is more suitable...then to only reg one and not both....its just a few bucks...almost negligible when considered against all the effort, time and energy that goes into developing a site (forum or otherwise)....just my $0.02

I like .net in general for forums since it implies networking. However, .us is good as well if that's the target market.
