NEED to create a real -estate site - HELPPPP

I want to create a real - estate website, but I need some advice from someone who knows how it works.

Do I have to contact real estate companies to send me they're listings for me to put them on my website? Or do real estate companies provide a set template?

What should be the first step?

sorry I don't know exactly how it works, but you might be able to use the google api to get some listings:

I'm sure there must be some kind of distributed data network for estate agents (where they put the data into one site, and then lots of other sites can use it), but a quick search didn't turn anything up.

I'd email your nearest estate agents, offering them your service for free and ask them what format they'd like to use...

Well, i would not look for real estate companies to draw traffic away from their listings and their sites of properties to give to you. You have to build the sites and the listings yourself. What value are you bringing to the table? They will want to know too.

It depends which part of the world you are doing this for. It's easy enough to pre-populate a US based realty site, not so for other countries.

However, adding listings unique to your site is what brings in value

How do we go about doing that? I may try to dev a site about log homes.

I looked into a MLS rss feed but I haven't been able to find a way to adding content except asking ppl to do it.
