I'm running a social networking site where most of my users click around on a lot of different pages (profiles, forums, blogs, galleries), etc... I relaunched it on friday and currently I only have about 100 users, adding about 20 a day, so I'd like to find the best way to monetize the traffic early on, so I'm not losing potential revenue, which I'll need to cover the bandwidth judging from the current usage.

I know nothing about monetization. Right now I'm just using Google Adsense, where I'm getting about 7-8K impressions a day, and approximately 2-7 clicks... earning about $.20-.70 a day... conversion is less than 1/10th of a percent, which I guess can be expected due to the nature of how people interact with the site. Also, the ads aren't really optimized to my viewing audience, but it seems thats out of my control with Google.

I have an account with commission junction and was thinking about trying that since I can choose relevant ads, but my audience is mostly young teens, so I'm not sure they really have the spending power to make commission based sales a viable option.

So basically I'm just looking for some opinions/suggestions given the situation. Should I just wait for relevant ads to start appearing from Google and hope I get enough users and clicks to make it worthwhile, or is there a better way that I'm not aware of?

I'd really appreciate any help on this as this is basically my first development project and first experience with trying to monetize a site. Much appreciated!

With that many impressions you should definitely check out a CPM network. I use ValueClick, they pay well.

have you also tried adbrite.com, adengage.com and/or adversal.com (popup) the latter pays via impressions.
