Well here's a short example of what I would like to see!

Seller/owner of the forums signature would sign up and post their forum signature for bid or sale! It would include such information as what forum, how many posts they have, how many posts they do per day, and the duration of the forum signature sale.

The buyer/advertiser would sign up, see the seller’s forum signature and place a bid/or purchase on it. If they win the bid/purchase they get to advertise in the seller’s forum signature for whatever the duration was for. Also instead of link categories it can be forum categories to help define the forums signatures market segment, whether it be sports, tech, weather, or environmental.

This is the idea I have gotten in general from sharing and gathering knowledge from other forum communities plus this one. Keep the ideas coming please :)

As of right now I'm still debating if I should purchase a bidding script or an affiliate script.

Bidding Script: If I go with a bidding script I think this would allow the Seller and Buyer the most control over what happens during the sell and what can be advertised not to mention this would also help the Forums Signature seller to only allow ad specs that are permitted at each one of their forums

Affiliate Script: Well it says it all you would get paid per click and not for a timely duration such as a week of advertising. The only negative thing about the affiliate script is this would bring down the revenue generated from the seller seeing the seller would only get paid per click. Also in the affiliate example terms and conditions would also have to be changed.

In the end I was actually considering trying it both ways. Bidding script at one of my sig domains and again the affiliate script at the other in order to see what one comes out the winner and stick with it overall.

here's some of the software I'm currently considering to purchase in order to get the site up and running. Please give you feedback on my choices and if you have used the scripts before. I would like to know things such as, Support, Functionality, template design, (if any) and anything else you would consider beneficial.

Alright here another update seeing I'm talking to myself here! ! I have purchased multiple domain names all .com that I think will help me control a minor part of this possibly big and very successful opportunity. Here's the domain names I bought and I did this because I''m actually going to invest money into this project. This is a new general idea I have come up with and will most likely stick very close to.

Domain names I purchased to cover the .com market as best I could,

http://www.sigsell.com/
http://www.moneysig.com/
http://www.sellingsignatures.com/

I have also open a pretty cool biding/auction here, Freelance Project - Forum Signature selling Script

This so far seems to be the investment I will be looking at. People are still bidding and I have 30 days left. The script will be very professional and I also plan do be contacting major forum owners in order to hopefully get their input and acceptance. In the end I would like to see some forum owners their selves become a business partners.

We'll see where it goes for now but development process has begun and when it's complete it will be neat to see who it works out.

Any advice at this point would be greatly appreciated and valued as I'm really getting in pretty deep here with some finances.

I personally believe an Affiliate script would generate you the most Buyers, as it is my personal opinion that you will not have an issue finding potential "Signature Sellers". The bidding script is very risky for the Buyer as he is investing in the hopes that the Sig generates traffic and he also carries the risk that the bought space will no longer generate traffic if the person stops posting.

The affiliate script will allow the Buyer to only pay for when the signature is actually working and also entices the Sellers to keep posting.

Ironically (not sure if that is the correct term here) I also had a similar idea to do this, but did not pursue it as I had left the business for a while (now coming back). If you are looking for a possible partnership in this venture, please pm me. I hope my advice does you some good.

I would recommend the affiliate script. However, let the advertisers bid on the per-click price. That way the advertisers get a price they are happy with, but it is high enough that sellers would be willing to join. However, I don't think you'll have any trouble attracting sellers. I am in Web development and would be interested in joining you on this project for either a share of the revenue or payment up front. Let me know if you are interested, I am a PHP/MySQL developer who studied at the University of Maryland (#16 in the US for computer science).
