I looked up a domain name "Goteeem.com" on estibot and it appraised at almost $3k so I purchased it, but after I bought the domain name I reappraised it and now it says $0..... I'm confused and disappointed. Can someone tell me why that happened?

.US domains.US domains
Don't ever buy anything based on an Estibot value! It means nothing at all.

Thanks for the advice

Try to see if you can get a refund.

I also don't have any idea how it happened. But it's an important learning experience. Use only Estibot as a guide. And don't use it on brandables! :)

Good luck! I'm sure you will do better next time.

Thanks for the positive outlooks!

It proves that estibot is an unreliable tool only relies on statistical information.

Once you registered the domain you killed it's age. I think that's what estibot was drawing most of it's value from in this case.

Estibot staff was like...

Even if it says 3K or whatever, it's worth nothing until a sale is made. But since pretty much any domain is appraised above regfee, how come they did not register them all ? Maybe there is a reason.

Hi @Joshua Verhulst
I am only knew here....... but I believe we are all here to grow and learn,
therefore adding/sharing value/experience in my believe is important.

I have had similar experiences to you sometimes even the other way round
Where the pricing has been say $28.00 US DOLLAR on free valuator then to purchase it
and it was re valued/priced 24hrs later and it went to $1495.85 US DOLLAR in Domain value.
There can be a lot of different factors to take into consideration regarding a domain pre purchase!
I agree with @Kenn DN @Andy Dexter @korganian @silentg

Also if you ever wonder or get stuck in regards to how, why, should, could this domain be worth $$$
prior to purchase (pre purchase).
Create/implement a check list or a process of elimination for your purchasing/buying domains
1 use the top/best 3 domain pricing and evaluation sites
2 use the top/best 3 tools you have access to for domain/websites (if domain has a site but check anyway)
3 use the internet for research regarding the domain check for anything and everything
reviews, google rankings, length of domain, demographics of the industry or area if targeting one
look for free reports of traffic/flow/keyword/analytics on similar domain words sites study them.

P.S I quickly had a look at your domain worth for goteeem.com -
1 site said $0.00 US another site said $1857.50 US and the other $28.00 US
I would stick with goteeem for now if you don't have any idea of what you want it for
just cash park it until you do.
Apart from the basics You have made/done the best move by joining the worlds most amazing
Website/platform its awesome

Emanuel, that information you just gave me has helped me understand and perspect things differently. I am really motivated and excited about the opportunities to be made with basically unclaimed words and numbers. If you have anymore advice id appreciate it. Thank you

Don't trust appraisals completely. Never trust I should say. Go on your instinct. If you are new to domaining then don't start buying domains just as yet. It is not how you feel about a domain name, it is what a buyer feels is important.

Take a look at this domain name: wohnwagen-gebraucht-kaufen.de (German)

Now, you your thoughts maybe, it sounds horrible, 2hyphens, too long etc., but this domain sold for $1,620

And this domain: games.ly

Your thoughts maybe, it is too good, 1.1M Avg Searches per month, sounds great, must be worth a lot with such value. The domain sold out for $385.

I have not used .coms as I took the examples in a hurry, but I am sure you get the idea.

You need to learn before you can actually start trading and winning.

It will take time, but be patient and focus more on learning. Don't invest more than 10% of what you got in hand. If you feel a domain is good, try to estimate a value of it by yourself by performing some research on the domain name. Then keep watch on it, and see how much it sells for. This will help you improve your estimation instinct. Yes, you may have lost a $x,xxx sale but remember,

"There is always an opportunity, you should be in a position to grab it. If you fall for a fake opportunity and take a fall, then you may not be able to grab the actual opportunity when it arrives."
Having said that, I once again repeat don't throw your money into domains you feel are good, do your home-work, follow the trend, study the trend, keep with the trend.

Take a step by step, and I am pretty sure in less than a years time(with a minimum 4months of learning time) you will be somewhere out of your newbie shoes and ready for the real game.

Regards & Best Wishes,
Dinesh

PS: I am newbie too, this is not my experience but experience I have derived from many people's wise words during my recent few days here on NamePros.

In my opinion both domains have been sold for the max price you may be able to get at the time beeing.

games.ly
well who needs .ly other then domain hacks?
it's no typein domain

the german domain means
buy used trailers

buyusedtrailers.com is a decent domain
dashes in german are sometimes not so bad as you think

wohnwagen-gebraucht-kaufen.de (German)
that may be a typein domain even if its long
and has a hight ticket market as potentiel end user

sometimes domains are not only words
but have a not obvious value to the new owner

@frank-germany I am talking about domain names from a newbie's point of view. I mentioned those examples to indicate that you should not be deceived by looks of the name. Rather do some research before actually determining their value. For an experienced domainer however the case is totally different.
