Need help with advertising techiques for a forum!

Hi, I am about to launch http://www.awdforums.com/index.php

I know it can be HUGE, but I have no idea on how to get the visitors, as the only places I can think of to advertise is on compeditor forums. Which I will get an instant ban, lol.

What can I do? Think I can contact some part vendors to put up some ads on there website in exchange for free ads on my site for a few months?

Any tips will help!

You can place banner ads of your forum on popular high traffic sites for a month or so and see what kind of response you get. You can also post in relevant forums with your forum link in the sig.
