Need Help Transferring Website Content

I'm looking for some help, recently I bought a domain name, and later found out that the domain was developed and had an active website on it.

I bought the domain a few months ago, and I am the registered owner, however the website sill resolves to the previous owner's hosting, and the content is still there.

Rather than parking the domain, I'd like to transfer the website content to my hosting provider, however, I don't have the previous owners contact as I bought the domain via an auction, how do I go about transferring the website content to my hosting provider?.

if it helps, we both use hostgator, just different #'s on the nameservers!

The website belongs to the previous owner, not you. Contact the content owner and ask permission.

You can find his contact info with a historical whois search, or via contact info on the website.

did you buy the domain name only or the the full website? There's a difference. It sounds like only the domain because if it was a full site he would have had to send you the zip file of all the content of the site.

You need to make a DNS change regardless so what you need to do is go into your domain registrar account and change the nameservers to your own web host's DNS or if you want to use your registrar's domain parking service, you would use their DNS.
