Need help to recover stolen domain

I have a few domains with webpages and a few parked domains. One of my domains was stolen. I was the victim of identity theft where the domain admin credentials were hacked and using this, the perpetrator illegally transferred the domain from me. He/she/they are are now hiding behind a private whois so I can't easily identify who did this and of course the registrar involved will not give me any information. Because I was burned I have to be very cautious about how much I post here, so all I can say is that it was a Canadian (.ca) domain with a registrar who offers a private whois service.

I was wondering if it is possible to do a reverse lookup of a registrant because I do have the Registrant, Registrar and Domain registration numbers. Is there a domain database where this information can be obtained or cross referenced? Is there a list of recent domains and dates when they were registered? I am not trying to do anything illegal, just find out the name of the person or company that stole my domain so I can recover what is rightfully mine.

Any help that I could get by the domain experts in this forum would be appreciated.

Thank You

If you have the registrant ID you can look it up the list of domains via CIRA.
It could be fake but then you could contact CIRA so that they lock/terminate the account.

How

Thanks for the response. When I said I have the domain registrant name, I am referring to the numeric ID number that CIRA gives. I have not been able to find out how to do a cross reference lookup to the actual domain "xxxxxxxxx.ca" on CIRA's website. Is this possible? if so how? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks again for the help.

I don't know which registrar you are using but with my registrar I can pull a list of domains owned by a registrant ID then select which one to acquire (this is the procedure for requesting a transfer in my favor).
If you would like PM me the registrant ID.

Why can't you complain to your original registrar ? I always thought they are the ones who have to help you to get the domain back, not the one to whom it was transfered to.

Re Registrar..won't help

The original registrar is part of the problem and I can't get any help from them now unless the RCMP show up at their door...which is a very real possibility and soon. The person who did this cannot get away with it as they have left a trail of evidence which will ultimately incriminate him/her. There is no such thing as anonymity particularly where the internet is involved however this person unwisely is under the belief that hiding behind a private whois will somehow protect them. It won't. I am very close to finding out who did this however it would be nice to get the domain back in my possession and put this to rest before things get nasty.

Any advice anyone can give me regarding finding out who is behind private whois would be appreciated. Also if anyone else has had a domain stolen I would like to hear from you.

Thanks to all the pro's out there.

I'm sending you a PM with information of a key figure of the CIRA legal department.
Give them a call and explain your case in full detail to get this resolved.

Call them! Don't email them.
