I have someone in an escrow.com transaction that needs to pay me $8,000 for a name. However, escrow.com only allows Credit card payments up to $5000. They want a wire transfer for this.

Does anyone have any ideas for me? Another escrow company that will do it? Or a way to do it 100% safely without any repercussions on my part. Any other services?

I just called them, got sent through 3 people, almost got an answer, and then the guy said he had to call me back in a few hours. Man, those guys over there really rush you on the phone--can barely get a word in.

I know in Paypal, there is always a risk that there could be a problem with the credit card payment after you've done the transaction. I wonder how the escrow companies get around this?

Any other escrow companies?

What about Sedo?

Edit: Just looked at Sedo and this is there FAQ:

Why can't I pay for transfers with my credit card?

Due to the large amounts often involved with transfers, we do not allow credit card payments for transfers for security reasons. If you would like to ensure that your transaction is carried out swiftly, we recommend paying by Paypal.

I use Google Checkout for transactions. It's very easy to sign up for an account and you can get up and running within a day or two ... very easy payment for clients also.

No ... not an escrow account. An easy credit card payment system. Far better than Paypal. If escrow is essential, then Google Checkout isn't the solution, but if he needs just a simple credit card payment system other than Paypal, it's great.

I can't imagine they'd have a policy different than Paypal though. A credit card charge can be reversed long after the payment. If this happens on Paypal, the seller is out of luck and has to refund Paypal. This must also be shy escrow companies have a $5000 Credit Card limit. They are still exposed to the same problem but they likely have insurance against losses.

Google Checkout's chargeback info is here

I have never had a problem with chargebacks but I have a lot of friends who have major problems with Paypal locking down their accounts as soon as they make a lot of money ... saying the account is being investigated for fraud. The only common denominator in all of the lockdowns is "a lot of money". The genius in the UK who had the million dollar homepage idea had the same problem. Started making money hand over fist and his Paypal account was locked down.
