Need help developing a Fan Website

Hi

managed to get a domain of player from a team i support .

player gets about 8K google searches.

decided i want to develop as a Fan Website and i have a few questions :

1. I prefer to use WordPress , which theme can you recommend ? if WP isnt suitable , what can you offer ?

2. i thought doing a news and info website that i will update.
is there any good plugin / extension that get related news articles directly to site ?

3. what are my options to make a profit ?

It can be done with WordPress.

I don't have much experience with fan sites.. So not sure if you want to build a community or just a news site.

If it's only news and blog type site, then there are lot more options to choose. Just search for news or magazine wordpress themes.

If you want to build a community as well, then i will suggest to use BuddyPress. There are several great looking themes available on themeforest. You can setup a news site on front and a forum/community on sub pages.

About related news articles. Either you can use some aggregator theme or plugin, which can show related news via RSS feeds etc. or you can try some autopilot plugin.

Google Adsense and maybe amazon affiliate, if there are items like t-shirts etc to related team.

just be sure it's not a copyright/TM issue, most celebrity names are , since in layman terms, their popularity is their TM

its not a MAJOR superstar , so i think its not a problem.

should i check if name is tm'ed ?
