Hello Everyone,

Currently I am working on a school project. And I need to create/use a cms behind this design, www.dikkop.com

At first I wanted to go for Joomla, but it seems it's harder then I have thought. Now I thought of using wordpress as it's easier to skin, as far as I have seen right now.

I know how to use php includes, but that's about it. I need people who aren't capable of html/css etc to add pages to our website! I first thought to just make sort of my own cms by using a lot of php includes, but it does not allow me to make pages and use wysiwyg. So I am asking for your help.

Should I learn how to make my own cms behind it.

Or should I use some cms software, if so which one is easiest for skinning!

Thank you ahead,

Klaas Koopman

wordpress is great and you can find themes online for free.

I know about that site, but I need to know what others think about this. As the design I am using is not just your average website design!

depending on your budget you could always pay someone to do it?

If not I would say learn yourself... I made myself a custom CMS in ASP.NET with no knowledge of it previously and it only took me about 2 months of part-time coding. I read tutorials and had friends and forums to goto with problems. If youre learning PHP then the community is even larger so you should have no problems getting help.

Sometimes things seem harder to do than they actually are.

When it comes to editing dynamic content from a MySQL database for example using a PHP script is fairly easy done. When all you need is this basic functionality, I would definitely build the script yourself using a simple tutorial. IMO, this goes faster then looking for a ready made script and adjusting it.

I always deliver web sites which such a script as a extra feature, if you're interested, I could send you some example together with some templates.

Mocht je verder nog hulp kunnen gebruiken, PM me. :hehe:

best of luck!

I don't have two months, more like 1 week haha. Thanks monty for your offer for help!

I just heard from someone that drupal is really great and easy to skin, what do you all know about it?

I would say, go for wordpress coding. It is easy and does not require that much knowledge of Php coding.

I got the extension for dreamweaver, but I just don't understand how to do it. Would you mind helping me out with it?

Is it really that simple? Cause I know every cms says theirs is the best and really simple, but is it...? Have you used it?
