question Need advice for the next step

Hi guys, just another new domainer here!

So since covid started I picked up the hobby of domaining. I managed to pick up 4 names i really liked from the expiring auctions and had the full intention of holding it for years before i actually sold any.

Fast forward a few months later I've managed to sell 2 for a reasonable profit (in my opinion) and 1 is currently in the process of being sold (hopefully it goes through).

So far, the domains I've picked up are in the 300-500 (winning bid) range from expiring auction, so my question is should i continue in this range or should i start looking at the 1500-2000 range for a potentially more valuable name?

Since this forum has been really helpful to from the beginning, I would love to know your opinion! Especially coming from more experienced domainers

Welcome to Name Pros. Honestly it depends on your wallet. There are expired gems that fall through the cracks all the time and can be backordered for alot less. Just because you pay a high amount or its aged doesn’t mean the name will ever sell.

Seems you have picked good so far that you allready have sales. Not the norm to profit in 4 months especially with what you paid.

So as a rule, try to get names as cheaply as you can. The only exception to that is if you are wealthy and these are small figures to you and/or you only intend to keep a small high caliber portfolio.

People are always looking to sell names here where you might get a better deal. Its easy to get confident after a sale but decent sales are often sporadic so plan accordingly and stay humble.

Indeed, its definitely not the norm to get these quick sales in succession and it might have gotten into my head so your advice on staying humble is a nice reminder.

I've pulled out my initial investment and am playing on house money. I'll focus more on finding the gems and not so much on the numbers as you said theres no guarantee it will sell.

I meant to add you should only pay xxxx if you are very confident you can turn that into xxxxx.
You will find alot of info and opinions here to add to your knowledge. This is a tough year in alot of ways for selling but on the other side of the coin might be a great year to get deals on domains.
