I think I can say 100% that I am done regging .tv names. Regged some good names over the last couple days and now its time to make money through development or resell.
Consolidate.tv was a domain I got thrown into quick development. I have owned the name for awhile did not do anything parked but I knew I had a plan for the name. Now the site is a simple blog which will start getting updated. But the site which went live Monday has already made $7through adsense. I want to give Chef Patrick a shout out as he built the site in lightning speed and did a great job. Highly recommended.
Now there will always be debate how much development do you need and does it increase value. My opinion is just get going doing something. When a site is developed it leaves the door open to a lot of possibilities.
1) whether you have an infringing domain or don't have an infringing domain, the climate has been crazy with over reaching companies trying to take domains through the udrp. Developed you show you have a legitimate use.
2) You can make money in a variety of ways, you may start out with adsense and build traffic and move to direct advertising sales. You may add a form and depending on the name get into lead generation. You have affiliate programs as an option.
3)A potential prospect for the name may increase their initial offer and interest in a domain seeing that its developed. There is not the lowball $100 offer with the usual "You only paid $8 and its just sitting there doing nothing." I am not agreeing with them that parking is doing nothing but you eliminate that from the get go and hopefully start negotiating a better sale price for the name.
If your name is a video centric name where video makes sense, use You Tube. Its foolish to not use the largest supplier of content, that will supply that content for free.
Someone will say well if you have Choreographer.tv and choreography videos on your site, why can't I just go to You Tube and search choreography ?
You can, but you will not just get the dance videos, you will get fight choreography videos in the results. You will get mislabelled videos, you will get people purposely put non relevant content in the video.
So what you say is that you have watched each video, to make sure its quality, its relevant and its categorized to each genre of dance in this example.
