In early January I was sent an email from a Mergers and Aquisitions firm in the UK, They were inquiring about a domain that I own. They started off with the inquiry and I returned correspondance indicating that the domain name in question was infact owned by me and that yes I was open to offers on this domain, They followed through with an offer in the low xx,xxx.xx and I kindly rejected the offer and during this email I also informed the company officials that I owned both plural and singular of this domain. This must have intrigued them even more and they responded with another offer for both domains again it was not high enough IMHO.
Just to give you some factual background on the domains the plural has alot of generic type in traffic on a daily basis and the keyword within the domain pays very well on PPC approx 10-25.00 / day
The singular pays the same however it gets much less traffic.
The original company is still very interested in aquiring these domain from me but its just a matter of dollars and cents. This gets us to the reason I am writing this thread. These 2 domains are in my ND account and the other day for shits and giggles I submitted alot of my domains into this new feature at ND I think I only submitted the first few pages in my account, well both these domains were included in the submission and today I have recieved an offer on the plural domain a meesly 200.00 for a domain that makes 8-10 x's that per month.... I am not sure who is behind these offers but I was very surprised at the rather low offer.
This brings me to a few questions, The people behind ND (presumably the people that made the offer) are well aware of the money that they make off this domain and well as the money I make and if this money combined is the bare minimum 10/day x 30 days = 300.00/ month (MY END) and lets say that ND is making .25% of that so add on another 75.00 (ND Take) and the domain has made this money consistantly for the past 2 years at ND and DS would'nt it be fair to say that the domain would be worth a bit more than a 200.00 offer.
This is the kind of sh*t that pisses me off, Understandabley they will always offer the lowest amount just as I would but they know the background of the domain and they can see the performance of past months and judge the amounts of $$$ it has made.. With this type of information at thier disposal you would think they would at least make a decent offer.
So just a warning to you that if you have a decent name and use this service be careful and do your math and make sure you get what you feel is a good price. My names are regged for the max 10 years and I would rather collect 200-500/ month on these domains rather than sell now for 200.00... Makes no sense at all to me... I would be very interested to see Ed's response
