I'm tired of clicking sellers' links saying something like "CHEAP! 8qt.com 90% OFF!!!" and all you see is overpriced domains, crossed out prices, and still overpriced values set as the current price. IMO, the title is misleading people to click it. On the other had, saying "Well, how is that cheap?! My mother is cheaper than that!" is quite offensive, and is considered sales crashing. Reporting every thread like that to an admin might seem wrong, too. But we have to do something about title abuse, IMO, will save us a lot of time in the long run.

My idea was to create an official price guide for NamePros, like the one on 3character_com. Anything below that price by at least, say, 10% is CHEAP. This will be a forum rule, and will be moderated by administration. How's that?

I'd like to hear admins' opinion on that. As much as I love freedom of speech, one's freedom ends when other's begins.

Being a seller myself, I know how important it is to attract buyers with catchy titles, but it shouldn't be ANNOYING everyone else, should it?

What do you all think? :/

well that's the reason why you can hover your mouse curser over the thread title and catch a glimpse of what's in there ;) (at least on the first post)... so, even if you see a title like ***** CHEAP**** ****HURRY***** , you can just put point your mouse there and more often than not, you'll get a pretty good idea, even without clicking through :)

While that is a useful feature, a lot of selers usually post something attractive in the first line or two :hehe:

A price guide for 4 character domains would be useful.

You're right, it is annoying. I see it all the time here and at other places, but I wouldn't make a rule against it. Think about it, what is a domain really worth? Answer: Whatever someone thinks it's worth or is willing to pay for it.

I agree that it can be annoying but I don't see how you could make a price guide against it. For example, if you make a price guide for 3 character .com domains, how would you note the difference between something like H2O.com (water) and a8f.com. The first domain obviousally has substantially more value, and could be listed as cheap, even though it was significantly over the suggested price range.
