Hi,
NamePros member SlumDog (real name Kaustuv Gogoi from India) had asked me to sell a few of his domain names, including Poker.GI.
I contacted my network, and one of my contacts expressed interest in paying $500. I communicated the same to Kaustuv, who said he would prefer offers around $1k.
My contact reverted back saying that his best offer would be $777, and for that he would need to consult his partner, and he can confirm back in a few hours. He asked me if the domain can be kept under virtual 'lock' for a few hours (and not offered to anybody else.)
I asked Kaustuv, and he said he would be okay with $777. He gave me 'his word'. Still being skeptical, I asked him to change the WHOIS email on the domain temporarily to my email for the next few hours until my contact confirms the deal.
Kaustuv agreed to do it, and a while later informed me that he has initiated a request for email change and it should be done in a few hours.
Upon hearing this, I notified my contact that he can go ahead with confirming the deal price with his partner.
I went out for 2-3 hours, and when I came back to my desk, I saw 2 mails.
First was from my contact, confirming that he is okay with the $777 price and would like to go ahead with the deal.
Second was from Kaustuv, asking to put the domain sale on hold.
I mailed Kaustuv and mentioned that the contact has already agreed to the $777 price and the sale is done.
He did not reply.
Then I called him and he did not pick his phone. I called again, he picked and said that there are transfer problems with .GI registry due to which this deal should be put on hold.
When I asked details about these transfer problems, he mentioned that he would explain these later and he was busy.
After that, I have called him numerous times, and sent several messages, but he does not respond.
My understanding is that he probably got an email from another party offering a higher price, due to which he is backing out from the deal.
What should I do now?
Thanks,
Prakhar
