Hey everyone,

Have another NameJet question. I placed a backorder for a name this evening on a pre-release name. When time was up to place a backorder, I was the only bidder. I checked the status for the next hour and sometime around the 60 min mark, another bidder mysteriously showed up. Now there are 2 bidders (myself and someone else).

I know you can't place a backorder after time is up so I'm puzzled. I realize that the system might not have been updated or something of that nature so thought I'd check with people that utilized NameJet on a regular basis and maybe have run into this scenario in the past?

Thanks!

I don't remember seeing that myself but I did have an incident a couple of weeks ago where I put in a bid for 2 domains with about 30 seconds left and it just hung there. When I refreshed the page, time was up and my bids didn't go thru, it was 0 for both. I contacted them telling them about it and they must have a record of me being on the page putting a bid in. They did and I got the domains. Maybe there was a glitch or something for that other bidder. You can check when the auction goes live and see if you recognize the bidder.

Probably why they don't start the auctions until the next day. In the event of system issues they can correct them before starting any auctions or releasing names that technically had other bidders on them. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I wonder if in my case, instead of being 0 for both, what if there was 1 bidder and then they added me in later. I'm glad they did, but I could understand if they didn't. Didn't know if it was an NJ glitch or my browser having issues, but it wasn't having issues anywhere else so I think it was NJ. And if I was that other bidder that got the bid in and then NJ put the other bids in later, I could understand that person wondering about it.

That's great that they do fix those types of situations since I'm sure it will happen to me at some point in the future. Especially when you wait until the last minute to place an order.

All that anticipation of placing the backorder at the last minute, hoping no one else will see the name.
After the time ends for placing the backorder, you get all excited that there are no bidders and you got the name only to realize that there are other bidders :( Now you have to wonder for 3 days is the person going to run up the bid, are you going to get the name, what's the name worth to you, etc..).

I'll just have to wait until the name actually lands in my account before thinking I got the name.

Thanks again for sharing your experience.

Funny, the mystery bidder turns out to be the same bidder that I referenced on a thread from last week (https://www.namepros.com/threads/annoying-namejet-user-minimum-increments-at-the-last-min.859208/#post-4866546).

This person seems to have an automated system from what I've gathered from seeing them on other auctions during the last month.

Still would be curious if anyone else has had any backorders mysteriously show up after the deadline (10:00), especially when you're the sole bidder. Trying to gauge the realtime status of NameJet's database's.
