Hello XXXXXXX,

We hope this message finds you well. We are reaching out to you from the Namecheap Risk Management Team regarding your 'xxxxxxxxx' account.

We regret to inform you that, based on our records, you reside in a sanctioned region. As a US-based company, we are obligated to comply with export control laws that restrict us from conducting business with certain countries.

In accordance with these laws, specifically those enforced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of Treasury, we are unable to provide our services to customers residing in certain countries. You can find more information about these laws and restricted countries on the OFAC website: https://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/sanctions/Programs/Pages/Programs.aspx
.

Unfortunately, due to these restrictions, we have to cease providing services to you, and as a result, your account has been permanently suspended.

We understand that this news may be disappointing, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. If you have any questions or require further clarification regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our dedicated support team is available to assist you.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Best regards,
Namecheap Team

After that message, access to the account disappeared.

I read the message - I almost lost consciousness and called an ambulance and they made me feel that I had a hypertonic crisis.

The head's not cooking at all right now, I'm trying to get an answer from them and I'm waiting.... In the namechip chat, the operator said they would answer the mail... I'm afraid I won't wait for their answer...... and everything is probably due to the fact that during the registration the city of Mariupol was indicated, which is no longer occupied...

there is no accidental official representative of Namecheap?

As far as I know, they figured out I lived in Mariupol. Account, more than 10 years and Mariupol was listed in the billing because I lived there before the war, and now what to do and what will happen to the domains of mind does not apply....

I am not sure how to deal with this but at the minimum I would ask them if your country gets removed from the list if you will get you account back. Also you could ask them if you could transfer your domains out. Unless your domains have been identified as security lists I would hope they let you do that.

Did you look to see if you received and emails prior to this?

the last message was automatic - April 14 after paying the bill:

Hello,

Thank you for choosing Namecheap. Here's a summary of your order.

You have to contact their support ASAP.

Please be patient with them and explain that you are not Russian but you are occupied by Russians and that what they are doing to you is no different than the Russians. They seem to be sympathetic to Ukraine.

Thanks for the hint but they said that in a chat of this kind questions are not solved and told to write to the mail, which was done.

First, whether a region is still included in the US Treasury sanctions program is up to the US Treasury, not Namecheap.

Second, it is true that many, if not most, of Namecheap's support personnel are in Ukraine, and their chief compliance officers, Owen Smigelksi and Essie Musailova are from families of former Soviet-occupied regions:

https://i2coalition.com/i2coalition-member-spotlight-qa-namecheap/

i2Coalition: What impact do you think recent geopolitical events have had on your more recent growth?

OS: You may have heard about our involvement in Ukraine. A sizable proportion of our team has been based for a number of years in Ukraine, so we had some contingency plans in place. We certainly never expected the actual invasion to happen, but we spared no expense or resources in terms of making sure our team was safe, that they were able to relocate if they needed to. If they needed to get out of the country with their families, we did everything we could to help them get out. We’ve established continuity plans to get our team established in other countries and then we continue to support those who have remained inside Ukraine.

So, whatever the situation may be, you will not find a registrar with a better understanding of the situation and the applicable rules (which they cannot control).

Thank them for everything they do!
Without dealing with an account that is more than 10 years old! Take and disable the work of domains (sites, forums) and close access to the account?

Do I care about my domains, and client domains with sites and forums? how so and what to do next?

Sorry, dear,
Namecheap is a decent service, i like ther support and services but they really should have allowed you a month to move away. This is why I dislike many online services; you get treated like a child when problems come up. I wish we could have our own personal registrars, marketplaces, and experience less government regulation, along with more freedom.

After our experience in Mariupol in February and March 2022, I no longer believe in miracles but believe that good people much more than bad!
