Hey everyone,

over the past 36 hours I've had a lot of difficulty navigating the namecheap.com website. some weird robot test on the homepage which is a first in my book. Now today I go to register a very exciting .vegas prospect that is indeed open and I get all the way through checkout and it says there is a validation error. I tried again and got the same result. The lady on the live support chat did not seem normal, she told me the domain requires trademark confirmation, but the domain is a one word generic .vegas name, it seems like I'm getting hosed out of this name somehow.

Has anyone experienced something like this?

Thanks for reading

The first thing you should do is try to register at another register, so you don't lose out on the registration. Also, if you have the same problems to register it elsewhere, it kind of shows there is some kind of problem with the domain name.

Well, without knowing what you tried to register, I would have to say namecheap was right.
Trademark confirmation.
Or maybe the .vegas extension is very picky?
Again, someone else bashing a registrar without much to go on except hearsay on his end!!!
Seems too many people having a problem at a registrar come to namepros and open up threads bashing that registrar.
Namecheap is well respected registrar and I would say one of the best there is.

Thanks for the replies.

I have to say my aim is not to bash namecheap, I'm simply confused about this situation and why they seem unwilling to help me or even give me any information. I was merely asking the question to see if anyone here may have any experience to share.

Well I did some more research and it turns out that it is a registry reserved name, which I've never heard of and still don't fully understand. I apologize for my haste in posting this thread without the proper research first.

I just visited their home page and got this:

We're just verifying you are a real human and not a bot. After a couple of seconds, our site will automatically load and the rest of your visit will be nice and fast. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Eventually I am got in. I can see my domains. But I also got this message:

Dear client, we know this area of our website looks a bit dated compared to the rest of our site. Not to worry, we will be releasing an entirely new dashboard and control panel as phase 2 of our re-design. We have been diligently working on the changes so look for our beta version to be released in the coming months. We are all excited to get this to you as soon as possible. Thank you very much for your patience and we hope you are excited as we are about the coming release.

So it could be that they're doing work on the site..........

What I'd do is immediately try to register that domain elsewhere if you think NameCheap is giving you trouble. But its probably a trademark issue (even if you say its generic it could be on the list by error or purposely placed there - who knows). There are humans behind all these screens and mistakes happen. Try again somewhere else - see what you get.

Last year I tried to register nTLD at namecheap at it gave me that bs about trademark. Next day someone registered same domain with gandi.net.

Edit:
It's: brand.extension
