Name Tasting - Does GoDaddy do it?

Yesterday I found a great .mobi that was available & couldn't belive that this one was still not registered. But I decided to wait until I found a couple more I liked to register as well & reg them all at once. Today when I went to register it, that one was unavaiable!

Does GoDaddy reg good names that you search, then dump them if there's no traffic?

No, GoDaddy does not do this. You didn't tell anyone about the name, did you?

After this happened to me once, I learned that if I find a good domain, I should register it right away! :)

I agree with FreewayWebhost. If there is a domain you want, register it right away, don't wait. Wait only gives other people to register the domain before you. I have it happened to me a few times.
Good luck.

Totally agree with the previos posts. No GoDaddy didn't do it. Someone else had the same GOOD idea that you had.

You've got to be decisive ... and obviously have the funds to risk at the time.
I review my ongoing lists of name ideas and constantly see some of the previously available ones disappear. After a few "coulda, shoulda" thoughts I realize that it just validates my decision to include it on a list of attractive names in the first place.

Move on to the next idea. You can develop any name when you put your mind to it. Good luck in the hunt.

Actually, I checked the whois record for that domain, & it says that the .mobi name was regged in end Oct 2006! How could it have been available when I 1st checked it, now the whois says it was regged last year? Can someone fake it that way or was it an error when I originally found it as available?

I (and many others) have found that GoDaddy's availability checks aren't exactly the most accurate. For example, according to GoDaddy, ww2.com is available for registration... :hehe:

Who would you recommend for checking available domains? Whenever I used GoDaddy they were always accurate. Maybe this time was an exception. GoDaddy was a lot better than plently of others I tried.

HaHa - You Slowdaddy users keep thinking that .... Wanna buy the Golden Gate Bridge BTW ?

They also place domains that aren't "expiring/expired" into their TDNAM auction .... I find it fascinating to see domains on auction 50% of the time that are renewed and reg'd til 2008+

They need to re-think and revamp IMO .....
