I registered a name with godaddy yesterday and decided I no longer wanted it. From my understanding godaddy gave tasting period. If i cancel the domain can I still receive a refund on this?

GD does usually NOT provide domain tasting, at least not to my knowledge. However, if you call them, especially after the registration is only 24 hrs old, you should have a good shot at getting the domain deleted and your cash refunded.

I've had success getting refunds before the supposed 5 day grace period was up.The most days i have gone before asking for a refund has been 4 days after registration. I had to open up a support ticket with them to get the refund. I've done this with about 10 or so domains without any real issue. They refund promptly. Good Luck!

You have to delete it within a 5 day period from the date you purchased, and you have to email/call their customer support to request a refund.

Thanks guys. I've cancelled the domain in less than 24hrs and emailed their support. We will see. Did the credit your account or refund directly to paypal?

thanks!

i've done this couple of times too and each time went smoothly. i cancel the domains from my account first (within 5 day grace period) then email billing at godaddy.com and ask for a refund

Personally I do not think they should allow refunds on domain names.

But whatever.

So when you accidentally mistype a name you should just be stuck with it?

That's not a very realistic view, or are you just against tasting in general. Would you purchase a car without test driving it?

I've returned domains up to 4 days later, just cancel from your account and send an email to support. No phone call needed. Paypal refund was pretty quick.

yeah whenever I don't want one I just call them as long as it's before five days... I return probably one or two a week. They've actually warned me that I'm "abusing" their system and *may* soon be subject to administrative charges.. (one a week? COME ON). But whatever, yes they do generally allow tasting.
