It appears that a bit of a price war is emerging between the registrars battling to get the rest of our .tv cash before it goes to Sedo:

Name.com (previously already lower than EnomCentral and Dynadot) have further discounted the price of all the available former premium.tv that have not yet been grabbed in the landrush by approx 6%

However eNomCentral now undercuts even them

e.g. Selling.tv was $580 at Name and now is $545 but is available at enom for $500 down from the original $630 there (at Dynadot it remains $600)

Will there be further discounts or might it even get like Afternic Bazaar and reduce over time to reg fee?! Will this make you buy any on your maybe list now?

I can tell you the names I lost recently by waiting. They are coloured orange on my screen and annoy the crap out of me for forgetting the old 'snooze/lose' saying.

Those name are publish.tv, catalogue.tv, memorial.tv and magazine.tv - and I could have had them all for around $1800.

The stupid thing is this. When I was bidding on Publishing.tv, one of the reasons I backed out after prolonged bidding was that I realised I could still get Publish.tv.

I have a big list of old premium names that I considered 'interesting' and I like to keep up to date with whether they are still free (or where they have gone). I have been shocked at how constant the purchasing of names has been and my estimate (based on my list) is that somewhere between 2 to 3 percent of available proper word names are leaving the list every two days as they are taken by domainers AND end-users who have cottoned on to what is happening.

To counter the snooze/lose thought I ALSO use another saying given to me by a good friend

If in doubt - OPT out!

MAy I also add that the name Survey WAS on my 'to buy' list but is no more.

On another note, the last two Premiums I picked up were cheapest at enom, and not Name. Just a week or 2 ago, Name was cheaper. We will all collectively have to stay on top of the best pricing now, because luckily there is a Premium .TV price war going on between the registrars. :)

looks like enom called a temporary ceasefire to the premium .tv price war and just raised their prices back up again: e.g Heaven.tv was $400 now $460; Editor.tv was $600 now $700 so for the time being Name.com is back to being the cheapest

What I think is interesting is that enom resets the premium back to "regfee".

When you at premiums taken at enom at name.com they show as $19.99

It appears that name.com leaves the original value - $xxx

If you're concerned about that kind of thing.

Not sure why they *had* a price war. Name.com's price match was a pain - ended up not even doing it because I changed my mind while waiting...

Capture people while they're trigger happy!
