I'm almost panicking here! :'(

Last week right before the lesson ended, the teacher hands out an assignment which basically wants us to create a community site!

I've never done programming/scripting in class so my ability in this area is very limited. The teacher wants us to learn everything on our own and then hand it in a few weeks from now.

How do I tackle this? Should I code everything from scratch? I can only manage HTML, CSS & Javascript (+ a whole lot of researching). But I won't be able to do PHP + MySQL.

The community site must consist of the following:

*Registration form
*Login box
*Member profile
*Member photo album (with share and privacy settings)
*Upload photo to the photo album page
*Profile Testimonials (comment box) + ratings
*Basic blog on the index page (+comment area)
*Basic forum

I could probably do this whole thing really fast if I were to use a bunch of open source softwares  but coding from scratch? *panic* *breathe* *breathe* *panic*

Honestly, if I had the ability to create community sites, I wouldn't be at school now would I? I'd be selling community software scripts! :D

Please help, I don't know what to do. What would you do - would you:
- use open source softwares and own up to it
- use open source softwares and try to pass it off as your own work
- code everything from scratch?

I'd pay a coder to do the work, or just fail the assignment if your marks are good, slack! :p

Get a custom template for Joomla 1.5. There are quite some sources for unique templates/themes out there, tons of free software and unless your teacher looks at the page source, there's hardly any traces left that you're using Joomla - provided that you modify the links and tags a little.

first i'd find out what third-party sources i'm allowed to use, otherwise you might fail.

You're right, maybe I should just ask my teacher if I'm allowed to use open source softwares. :D

...now I have to go figure out how to say "open source softwares" in Chinese. :D

ye, I would say use a script such as PHPBB, Then find a simple free template, cut out all the links and edit it quite a lot (like the images).

Please note That you shouldnt remove links from free templates if your using the design publicly, So I think your ok.

Enjoy!
