My girlfriend wants to start an adult site...

...all we have so far is the domain name. I would like to build the site myself but have very little experience. We do want to start simple with just galleries and videos. What script do you recommend that will allow password membership along with the ability to accept credit cards? Please include any key steps that a rookie like myself might be missing.

Godaddy has their Website Tonight that does it all according to their customer service rep but you have to pay before you play so I'm weary about that. Any thoughts about that anyone?

...and yes adult content is fine with Godaddy as long as you don't push US law.

i would stay away from Godaddy hosting as it's very slow, not at all good for an adult site i would suggest. Sound like you have quite a girlfriend BTW!

You domain sounds good but be careful on the laws around lol. Also vidiscript and some scripts are free, search up video scripts or buy a small script. I can probably help you out to choose one. theres TONS.....

leegor, check Adult webmaster forums. You will find plenty of people who has experience in this. Also you can't use some payment gateways like Paypal since they don't accept Adult sites.

#2. Hire someone who already knows how to program to build it.

#3. Go into a joint venture with someone who already has success in the industry. The market is extremely saturated right now, and this is probably your best option.

It will cost you a few thousand to get started. You need to work with a credit card processor like ccbill or epoch. Also, if you want to make money with the site, someone with zero experience might not be the best guy for the job to design. Search google for adult webmaster boards. Lots of designers there but make sure you get opinions on that designer from other webmasters. Good luck and feel free to pm any pictures of your girlfriend

Paypal doesn't accept adult transactions. I'm not sure about 2co. I know with companies like ccbill, it costs something like 700 to process visa. I'm not sure what ccbills/epoch fees are but they can take care of the entire billing end for you. A few thousand is an estimate. All depends on what you want and what kind of quality you want. A paysite design might cost $500-1000 (depending on how much scripting you need), you could probably design the galleries yourself. If you shoot everything yourself, thats free and then the backend, probably 1000-1500. But don't assume just because you do all of this you will be profitable. You should have a background in promoting adult sites or else you will be lost.
