WhatsItWorth.mobi - Find out before you buy. Whether your at a yard sale, flea market, or antique shop, you can now find comparable pricing with your mobile phone.

The site leverages the ebay API to allow mobile users to search for an item while on the go. This way they can get a better picture of an items true value before purchasing.

My future plans include leveraging other content on the web or even partnering with other price guides (antique, baseball cards, etc).

Michael :)

NOW THAT IS A GREAT IDEA.

Many website owners start their websites thinking more about how it will benefit them, not the user. That's why they're not successful.

This is an example of a website that has a real use for the enduser, almost sure to be successful if you promote it right.

This ought to be a lesson for us: THINK ABOUT THE USER FIRST, THINK ABOUT YOUR MONEY AND THE BENEFITS TO YOU LATER.

If you have a killer idea and a killer site that people enjoy using, the money will come, you don't have to fight for it.

very nice job. particularly on the thought process - "what will people use mobile web for?" - and you make that clear with "at a yard sale or ...etc"

great work.

Funny. I regged a couple of mobi's for this exact idea and you told me they were crap in this thread http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/375938-my-first-mobies.html

:)

I agree, think about what the future site could be, not just the value of the name itself, or the parking value.

As a garage sale bargain hunter myself...I'm speechless! Now I don't have to run home and check values on eBay every time I see something that I think might be worth something!

Wait...I still don't have web access on my phone... :notme: ;)

Absolutely fantastic job!

Um...excuse me, but I think you need to re-read that thread. You asked for "thoughts" and I gave you mine. You said nothing about having an idea like this. In fact, you didn't offer any ideas for the domains in that thread.

Hi Michael,
What an awesome idea! I spend a fair amount of time on the road, doing field

research. I noticed that your mobi site currently just shows "Active

Auctions." Will there be an "Completed Auctions" feature in the future? It's

great to see what something is currently selling for, but as many of us may

already know, a fair amount of bidding occurs in the last minute or two of the

auctions, so I think it would be a tremendous benefit to be able to search

completed auctions also. Thanks for an fine mobile addition. Tommy.

You are right I didn't, although I thought it was fairly obvious on some of them, but clearly not. No worries, I just thought it was funny.

So simple and so elegant!

As for the historical issue above, I think we can all agree that great minds think alike :)

mykel241, I note that the site doesn't appear in Google yet; do you want people to link to it with any particular keywords in the anchor text when we cite it is as an example of useful developed sites (so that when the spider does visit it propels you quicker to the top of the niches you are targeting)?

Really great work Mike. This is one of the coolest mobile site ideas I've seen in awhile. I will actually use this on my treo all over the place.

Can we get a champagne/bubbly emoticon in here? lol

All the best!
