My new hobby has turned into a "job"

As many of you know, I am a pre-med student currently doing my residency while taking a few residual classes at University of Oregon and Lanee Community College (yes, I find it ironic too lol).

Anyways, To fill out my schedule... I took an acting class for the credit.. thinking "this might be fun..".

2 weeks ago I went to an audition for a play called "The Hardest Part". I was there forever.. and being the first time I've ever auditioned... didnt know exactly what was going on.
Turned out I didnt get any parts in that play, but for a very cool reason

The Director Patrick wanted to "save me" (his words, lol.. like im a virgin :P) for his theater production of One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest!
So he came into to acting class today to ask me if I wanted to do the part.. heck it even pays :D

It's just really neat to find something new like this having never pondered it before (acting that is) and to find out im good at it. Just had to share

"Dale Harding -

Hey man, im still happy Ive never audtioned for anything before this, and to me, for the director to recommend me for a professional (read: not college affiliated) role in a major production... well..im friggin stoked (not to mention it pays . I am soooo friggin poor right now. almost 200K in debt from student loans alone )

yay.. IM GAY!!! lol.. well... for 3 hours a day for 3 weeks at least

When the show goes on the road and hits Hawaii let me know and I'll come along and give you flowers. Maybe even a big sloppy kiss too depending on how much you're getting into the role

Congratulations!

I'm into acting as well. In fact i auditioned for a local movie to be shown nationally (Philippines), but "fortunately" i did not get any part. It was still a cool experience so i don't have a boring life. :D

I've just been thrown a curveball here on this lol, very interesting one at that.

first, I am a white guy. 5'10" and about 150 lbs. (down from my normal 175 since surgery ).

I've just been informed that I am getting a bigger role than Harding.... but this shouldbe interesting: They are combining (to make it back into the original script) the Roles of Washington and Miller into one man named William.

While this change reflects the original scripting, it makes it difficult for me..see... while Im no longer a gay nut, I am now a militant black panther! lol

OK, so they've given me authority to change the wording from 60's era radical "black" speak to white trash speak of the day (think of the prisoners from Shaw Shank Redemption.. at least thats what Im imagining)..

but this role has roughly twice the lines and nearly 10 times the stage exposure :o

cool, but now im scared... so much to learn... and im sooo new to this :S. Heck, I've only been to one friggin audition all my life and now this... I have alot of work to do.. but I really do appreciatte everyone here's support :D
