I did, and received a confirmation the domains are now in my account and then got this for 20+ Domains

The following domain name has failed to be registered:

************.COM

Error: *************.COM: cannot register - already registered

We will evaluate this error and retry the registration if appropriate.

If we are unable to successfully register the domain name, your account will be credited accordingly. Please allow one business day for the refund to be processed.

GoDaddy Problem

This is definitely a GoDaddy registrar problem.

Probably, the add-on domain that you selected to register was preregistered in the GoDaddy database 'a few minutes, hours before you confirmed with GoDaddy.

The problem is that GoDaddy should have caught this at the time of domain registration.

Unfortunately, I don't believe there's anything that you can do under these circumstances.

Im going to feel stupid, when end users contact me to finalize a deal!

Waste of my time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know.... Writing up a domain proposal and then emailing them to perspective buyers is time consuming to say the least.

Why not contact the person that picked up the domain and "make an offer" for the name?

All the best,

This type of thing happens a lot at GD, been happening for years, one reason why I stopped using them. I used to double check the domains availability at say NameCheap.com or another real time registrar prior to regging the name at GD just to make extra sure that the domain was indeed available.

I dont know how many names I thought I regged at GD just to find out like yourself that the name was never available in the first place, its a real pain in the butt. GoDaddy knows about this as Ive contacted them about it like over a year ago, I see nothing has been done to resolve the problem.

Ive never had a domain fail to reg at say NC or DD

When I register a name, I always check the whois afterwards. Only then I believe that the name is mine.

I do the same thing regardless of registrar.

However, I pretty much moved out almost all the domains I had at GD for many reasons, this one being one of them. It happened too many times, and it hasnt happened anywhere else.

Ouch. Were the domains ever physically in your account?

100 Emails - After only 2 hours ? :| ... and your username is now 24HourDomainer .... ???

Even new people to the Industry verify they own stuff by making sure it resolves to new NS's - or at least I've assumed "domainers" would know better. Thanks for sharing though.

I would not place or promote a name for sale unless I've already parked or placed it to a lander. Usually I want to see the traffic before determining what I am going to do.

GD is horrible about this. I've been disapointed by GD 100 times. My issue is if they can check the name and then send you an email ....why not run "this" same process at the time of purchase?

Sorry to hear this is still happening at Slooooowdaddy.

I've found now that if a name I'm checking shows
available at Godaddy, I check it elsewhere first before I
give them my money. and Of course, it's always regged elsewhere...

I probably still have the email that says Golf.info was mine!

wow, how did you manage to send out 100 emails in 2 hours? that's 50 emails / hour, which is almost an email a minute...

I average 200-500 emails an hour. My method works great. The trick is simple, for each browser window, i open 50 sites in each. Once all the end users im looking for per domain is ready. I start my email campaign. Copy and Paste!

i also average 25-100 fax an hour as well. If they dont have email for contact.

Well, 200 emails in an hour....your avatar suits you!

I just had a similar problem with Godaddy. Paid for a new reg, but somebody else got it first. A day later, Godaddy sends a form email saying they haven't got the name yet, and if they can't I will be refunded - though it may take up to 24 hours.

Fine.

Four days later, no refund, so I send a message asking where it is. This time, the email says they will try one more time to get the name (in 5 days), and if they can't, they will refund the money then.

As Bob Pasons said, "The domain business is a dirty business...just dirty."
