I just received my first offer for one of my domains at Sedo, it is a pretty good offer too. I just wondered if experienced members think I should counter this or just accept the offer? What happens if the bidder decides not to accept my counter offer & could I then go back to their original price?

Counter for sure!

I would counter for sure! Just counter high enough, knowing he will counter back with an offer between his original offer and your offer. That is what I would do anyway.

We would probably need to have a little more information before we could provide some sound advice.

To answer your second question, once you counter the person can cancel negotiation. If they cancel negotiations, you can not go back to their original offer.

Good luck.

Nope, decline the offer or ask for a lot less.....

Really can't say without more details.

More!

No, counter! He'll pay more! Or.................. you can put it on the auction, if no one else bids any higher, he will get it for his original offer.... and you will wish you had asked for more!

ok thanks for the feedback so far. For those asking for more info, I don't want to provide the name but I can say that all my domains are listed for max on sedo $9,999 and this is just so I can decide later what price I will sell them for when I get around to it. This person offered $1000 for it. It is a 2 word .info I hand regged a few months back. It is quite a good name and could possibly make the person with the right idea a lot of income. I have a similar name that is my biggest performing .info, it makes income by selling products for merchants.

So my options are to:

Accept the offer
Counter
Place on Auction

I'm thinking of a counter offer of around $3,000

$3k for an info is rare especially 2 worders...I would counter with $1500 MAX...when you counter-offer you lose the chance to accept the original offer.

No. Do not counter. Take it to auction and then keep advertising the domain.

Many times counters will scare off the buyer and he will look elsewhere. Getting greedy will get you empty pockets. I know from past experiences.

Yes I don't want to get greedy, so if I place it on auction then are they still obliged to buy it at the original price they offered if no one bids?

edit, ok after reading the terms it looks like I'm safe to go to auction which I think is my best bet...

I have added rep points to all that replied...

I have now started the Auction on Sedo.

I have a couple more questions...

Is it worth paying for the featured 30 day listing and the Category Showcase for my auction that has already started? more about that here: https://sedo.com/showcase/?templateid=200&tracked=&partnerid=&language=us

My auction runs until the 25th, how else could I promote it?

counter just a little bit not to lose it.

imho no. This is not the kind of domain that will benefit from being featured.

Yes I can see now that it is for a domain without bids...

thanks, yes it is & I can mention the name now since I decided to not counter the offer... BuyPhentermine dot info - I think the bidder can do very well with the right development. I have several .info sites with "Buy" in them and they certainly bring in visitors that want to buy things with that keyword.

thanks Reece, I'm a little hesitant to call it a sale until I get paid but definitely positive and inspirational & I hope it helps give the .info a bit more value.

Thank heavens for this forum, I could have easily blown it, counter too high etc.

Glad you chose to send it to auction. It's all too easy to scare off a potential client by countering too high.

Good luck with the auction! :)

Two problems with going to auction on a name that doesn't sound to be desirable beyond a small niche...

1. It's most likely that no one else will bid.
2. The buyer is given MORE time to change their minds. Despite Sedo rules buyers often don't pay.

I think you would have benefited the most by a reasonable counter-offer that could be accepted quickly and the sale moved forward. On a $1k offer...asking $1500 might get you a YES or a counter-offer of $1200. Now in auction the $1k is probably what you are going to get.

EDIT: Just read the domain name...I am positive you would have had a $1200-$1500 sale with a counter offer. Good luck in auction but I am skeptical.

You are probably right labrocca but since it is my first sedo sale then I wanted to bag it and it still has a chance to get more. I think if I was doing this often then a counter offer would have probably been better and if I lost then it would not be so bad. I would be happy with 1k for this ($900 after sedo). I didn't want to lose it and If I counter offered then they have the option to back off and I would have been kicking myself then. They could back off now but it would be against the Sedo rules.

Someone said to me it could be a large drug company bidding, and we all know large drug companies have billions... who knows what they would have been prepared to pay for it, it might have been wanted for an advertising campaign etc?

thanks Irieman for the good luck as well!
