After more than a year buying gtlds, and no buyers..only very low ball offers, I decided to try .com

I bought A F O V A dot com for $30 here and in less than 2 month sold it for $1050 in sedo!(my first domain sale ever!)

How this happened, was it luck?

second, what u suggest next should keep trying with brandable .coms or 4l.com or???

I still belive in gTlds but I should keep trying .com

first congrats!

Second you must understand that you only deceive yourself with your love for gtld's. Sure, are there people who flipped some gtld's for big bucks? YES, however, consider this, most people will never flip any .com they have for good money, let alone a gtld.

The psychology behind people who buy gtld's is very flawed and sad. I won't bother to explain further as I have a better chance of getting a meth addict to stop doing drugs than I have getting a gtld addict to stop wasting money.

Stick to dot com and you will up your chances big time of making money. Gtld's are for the domain industry what penny stocks is for wall street, the big boys who make money never bother with penny stocks while new comers swear there is money to be made in penny stocks, they hang on to a few rare examples.

I am not trying to be rude to you, take it as honest advice, I am of the few who do not fear the gtld evangelists. I preach .com's because the numbers don't lie.

Next, let me tell you about hand reg names. There are some here that will spend 150 bucks registering 15 handreg names (or with coupons 150 names) that are complete trash, meaning the chances of them flipping it are almost 0. Realize the value of buying one good name off NP or other marketplaces for 150 than a bunch of garbage for 150. Remember, garbage + garbage + garbage Ad infinitum, NEVER equals gold.

I love seeing people come into this industry and learn from the costly mistakes that others made, instead of behaving like someone at a seedy carnival convinced that he will be the first one to get the basket ball in the basket.
