About three months ago, I was still somewht unsure about .TV and went on a TV.COM buying spree as did alot of u - we are trendchasers,

However, there has recently been what I have called critical mass, where a whole number of factors come together to make me a firm believer in the extension and now I will only reg a TV.COM as a defensive reg.

Now, we are only at the BEGINNING of this critical mass, but that is ok , because like I said once critical mass has been achieved, it is like a snowball rolling downhill - unstopppable and will only gather pace...

Here are my reasons why we have reached critical mass

1. Snoop has not had anything to say negative about ,tv for at least a week
2. On an almost daily basis, the techcrunches, mashables and even some of the big papers talk about a new .TV site.
3. Used on a global level already - South Korea and Japan especially so
4. They can deny it all the want , but alot of the big commers have started to invest in .tv
5. Offers on names are increasing
6. Sales are increasing
7. ,TV on TV has exploded
8. We cant keep up with the DEVVED sites
9. BIG PLAYERS (you listening Snoop?) are now developing and promoting and USING .TV

I will leave reason 10 -20 to others to fill in

This point is one that I have noticed the past month, with one of my IDN.tv domain names. I have the name ... ใ‚ชใƒผใ‚ฏใ‚ทใƒงใƒณ.tv ( which is Japanese ) for Auctions.tv

So far this month, the domain has had more hits than in the past 6 months. I have no idea what has caused this sudden surge, as many people have negative thoughts about both IDN and .tv ( having an idn.tv must mean I am completly crazy !! ) - but this one is looking to be the exception from the other idn.tv I have registered.

Now this is just me......we are seeing sales......but to outsiders. While that isn't a bad thing, the reality is that we still have two groups buying.

A) End-Users
B) Domainers

While A is great, we don't have a MASS influx of outsiders sending inquiries. Yes, there are inquiries, but it is not a massive thing where everyone is getting end-user inquiries. The inquiries are for specific names for an end user use.

B is a different story all together. The reality is that domainers are NOT buying up the names in droves. In fact, there is still little action in the sales section. Where there is action is in the hand-reg's. IN MY OPINION, when the hand-regs tip over to people buying in the aftermarket, as in our sales section sees a large amount of buying and not the cherry picking that is going on, that is when the scales turn to critical mass.

Not trying to be a downer, but more of a realist. A market that is in favor of an extension has a good pocket of aftermarket sales to domainers. We don't have that yet on anything other then sales in the 5-$50 range. Once sales start where obvious $200 and above are happening in that section.....that is when I would agree we are at critical mass.

Again, my opinion.

and you wont see that while there are still names to reg- simple logic- someone regges ivytv.tv instead of possibly trying to get ivy.tv or ivytv.com- dntv.tv- could they have aquired something else? yeah, but there are still names to reg out there- you see a rash of new sites, most with names i can bet were hand regged- how long did it take for even some coms to get where they are now? com did not command the prices they do now because you could still reg a decent name-
there is still a ton people can work with in .tv- not everyone is looking for the main pure generic for their site- hence, they still have a wide choice of other names-

its not that it is a problem hulls- it is a good thing :) we obvously cant hold every variation of a name tho :)
all i am saying is that i see great growth with .tv- and thee are those, and will always be those who want, and will pay for, a higher end name instead of a variation- and just like in ANY other extension, THOSE buyers are lesser than the masses regging whatever variations. :)

I'll take everyone's """"QUALITY 18 MONTH OR OLDER"""" unwanted hand-regged TV.coms now that .TV is a force to be reckoned with.

I'll even pay double what you bought them for. Just think 100% profit!!!!

Any takers? Or is TV.com still as relevant as it was when you were all 'trendchasers'?

Exactly,

I am referring to quality names only.........they are definately in higher demand now, premium or otherwise.

Shxx names will always stay shxx and as to the .tv marketplace, there are really few and far between that I have seen a name there thats worth reg fee unless its a solid premium, asking price 9k etc....(despite the fact some have then go on to be sold for xxxx) sorry wrong place to advertise your 9k names - we are domainers or if we are going to develop -we will buy direct from Enom, not to say there have not been any sales or quality names....I am talking about the MAJORITY.......

the highest i have ever gone was 2k for VID.TV and that was to throw it to auction......till the .tv marketplace offers decent names for FLIPPERS in the 300 - 1000 price range to make a profit, there will never be much activity there

that is a very bold statement!!!! i have alot of shit tv,coms - you really dont want to stand by that statement - at least get an attorney to tidy it up!!!

i was buying tv.com in 06 along with a few others on the board. i have no regrets......all i am saying is, that now, i feel relaxed enough not to have to worry that .tv will see its full potential, and i can stop diversifying into tv.com.......

btw, cataloguetv.com is still available since you are still so bullish on tv.com!

What is this thread about? I thought we'd had the discussion time and time again about .tv versus TV.com.

The upshot each time is that both are winners - the main advantage of TV.com being that there is no premium price to pay each year, while .TV fits better with longer names.

I know that KentTV.com and Vets.TV both had the same teams involved in the planning and implementation phases. They never batted an eye about who owned the other domain names - they just cracked on with developing. Each name explains what the websites are about.

If you own .TV names - excellent. But as they improve in popularity so do TV.com names. The root cause is that more people are becoming aware of converged media and want their slice of the cake. It is not some .tv special moment.

Most end-users don't care whether the colour is pink or blue (.tv or TV.com) - they just want to show it off to the world. Don't forget, most of the really big domains today (google, ebay, youtube, etc) are names that didn't even exist a few years ago.

Yes, the name is important, hence the large fees paid for some classy 'tells you what it is before you've seen it' domain names, but whether it ends TV.com or.TV is not as important as most of us want to believe it should be.

The true test is simple. Ask someone who isn't a domainer to name the various endings of a 'web address'. If .tv comes first - we're all rich beyond our wildest dreams - AND the drinks are on me.

If anything else comes first, we're back in reality.

THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR HARD WORK - and both .tv and TV.com need as much hard worked publicity as possible - not a slanging match between team mates.

As one flea said to the other - it's my dog, not yours.

slanging match????!!!

yoiu are reading too muchinto what I am saying...I m simply saying that for me i feeel comfortsble enough with where .tv is going to hedge any further with tv.com and that was just one point - my main point was about the signs beiing good for .tv

so I agree that tv and tv.com are what you make of it, in fact i agree with everything you have said other than that there is some sort of slanging match!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are feeling a lkittle antsy because I dare say that I personally have finished with tv.com to concentrate on .tv - then Iam afraid the other flea retorts" you doth protest too much - chill out"

Antsy - you bet I'm antsy (what kind of word is that?)

I've just found out that a site I am developing has major competition who not only film stuff for free - with a full BBC trained film crew - but have managed to get government assistance to do so.

Yes I am antsy - and then I hear someone decide to pick up a redundant argument for about the fiftieth time. No! No! No!

Let's get on with buying names and moving them to higher ground - not fannying around talking backtalk.

We need to work on making .tv and TV.com reality. If you are comfortable with your purchases - just say so - stop slagging off everything else. God, yesterday it was someone else you were picking on, and before that you were apologising for once again being in a public slanging match.

Does anyone know if STOPSLAGGINGSTUFFOFF.tv is available - I've got a buyer.

Oh, CatalogueTV .com

I'll wait for the drop! (but PM me with your best price if you are serious)

Yesterday I had the audacity to say that the person who listed BAD TV on SEDO should put the premium price in his sedo listings - flay me for that thought.....I will stand by that comment and appreciate the fact that others agreed that the guy was and is a wanker.....to use someone elses language on that thread...

You made this personal with ythe fleas and dogs etc..I was talking about .tv ......so get your facts right Mr....

As for the drop on Catalogue - unlikely althgough do know you got GardnerTV from me- a sensible offer from you will be treated accordingly.....

Now stick a smile on your face and realise that I am actually having a go at no-one at all, read though my thread again.........i think it was the word trenddhasers that got you miffed.........

'Stick a smile on my face' - why do you always try and wind people up all the time - even mild mannered folk like me.

Or is this your standard process in building up to the 'apology' moment again?

As I said in the previous post - STOP with the backhanded comments - it's not very constructive.

Bit lost here..

Are you saying I should put the premium price on my SEDO listing? If so, I would appreciate an immediate edit - as I don't have a .tv on SEDO AT ALL! (And never have) - and if I did I certainly would include any premium.

As for the use of profanity - not needed.

he sais she said shit....drives me nuts.....tell you what you thick brick - i will explain the siy=tuation for the last time, then im outta here - just too many tossers

YOU SAID -YESTERDAY I HAD A GO AT SOMEONE

I responded refering to the guy who put BAD.TV up for auction without putting a number on the premium.

I WAS NOT REFERRING TO YOU....unless you own BAD.TV

As for the profanity - sorry to harm your mild mannered sentiments - I was actually quoting someone else....

You obviously need help structuring sentences, because you think they are all permanently directed at you.........

Now take evrything II said and shove it XXXXXXX

First Rick - now you.

The world will be a much less orange and drama-queenie kind of place!

Seriously, don't leave - I might think you're a stirrer of trouble - and you do have a habit of involving innocent bystanders - but you're part of the furniture.

As for the edit - read it again - and then change it. Seriously.

That's enough.

Back to your corners, and take a breather.

Or at least strip down to your bikinis and get in the jello pit so that this is worthwhile.

No doubt we'll spar again another time.

Always there at the right moment with a quick quip.

You of all people should know I never wear my bikini in company!
