I've got a question about .ms names, can they be transferred from one registrar to another? I believe there is one extension where if you reg it with a certain registrar, you can't transfer it out to another. Is this the one?

Thanks for the above info.

I tried this with Moniker but I get the following error message:

Domains with Errors

Does anyone know, is there any issues with transferring .ms names to them?

Also, which is the cheapest Reputable register for .ms transfers? Thanks

for all questions above,I just confirmed with ms nic:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please see the answers to your queries below. Apologies for not responding sooner.

Can .ms domain names be transferred from one registrar to another?

Sure, .MS Domain Names can be transferred between Accredited Registrars… See a list here: http://nic.ms/register-ms-domain-names

How do I transfer a .ms domain name from one to another registrar?

Domain names can be transferred automatically via some Registrars. You will need to provide the Receiving Registrar with the Domain Name and Authorisation Code and they can transfer it without the intervention of the Losing Registrar. If you do not supply the Authorisation Code, the Losing Registrar will have to Accept the Transfer Request when submitted by the Receiving Registrar.

Some Registrars have not Automated their connection to the .MS Registry, so the ability to transfer would not be available via your account on their site. However, I suppose if you contact the right person they can assist you with the transfer.

In exceptional cases the Registry may assist with a Transfer; but we prefer if the transaction is between Registrars.

Why some .ms Domain Registrars can be transferred .ms domain and other can not be ?

Any Registrar who is accredited by us can perform Transfers. Whether a Registrar choses to facilitate transfers of .MS domain names by their Registrants is a matter for the Registrar and their accepted procedures.

How long does a transfer take?

The Transfer process can be instantaneous if done via our Automated process (EPP connection to the Registry by authorised Registrars or the Registrar’s connection to our Registry GUI) or days, or whatever time stipulated by the particular Registrar’s work flow. The limitation is not with the Registry, but how the Registrar choses to interact with the Registry.
