Hey guys,

I left my pc on, and my mouse was working well..i came back, the light is off..and i can just right click and left click in place. I can't move the pointer anyway.

Any help? The system shows that device is working probably, this is so harmful since I don't know how to surf with keyboard.. :(

sounds like the problem is that your mouse never "woke up". this happened alot when I worked at Newport.. we called it "Computer Coma". a Hard boot is all that is normally necessary ;) (hold down the power button for 5 seconds. when pc shuts off, restart it.)

Did you try this yet:
Start -> Control Panel -> Add Hardware,
This will check if the device is enable and/or working.
Also you can try to restart your computer too.

Was it a problem with the old mouse?
If it was a roller type mouse they will
get dirty inside and the curser wont
respond but the buttons remain working.

Turn off 'puter and unplug mouse.

You can remove the ball and there will
be 3 (generally) spinners inside. With a
Q-tip dipped in alcohol then the excess
squeezed in a paper towel, clean these
spinners. There might be hair and other
stuff picked up off the mousepad over
time so gently remove all you can off
the spinners and then hit the inside with
air and you will be suprised what comes
out.Wipe the ball with a damp, soft cloth.
Let everything dry, (2 minutes) replace
ball and you will have a brand new mouse.

If you have a trackball style, remove the
ball and you might notice lint and stuff
around the rollers it rides on. Blow out with
compressed air, careful of the lens, if lens
is really dirty you can GENTLY swab with
a Q-tip slightly damp with alcohol, wash
trackball with warm soapy cloth. dry and
whoo-hoo, just like new.
Do this at least once a month.

Same thing with your keyboard, take the
air nozzle and blow out dust and dirt from
under the keys and around any other buttons
to keep everything clean and responsive.
I do not recomend opening up the keyboard
unless you are confidant.

Peace. kp
