Most you would pay for a random two character .com?

Curious what the masses on this forum would consider paying for a random two letter domain (If money was not an issue). In other words, I am about to purchase a two letter domain that has one letter and one number ( ex. b3.com, d6.com, m8.com). Price is settled, and I am just curious how I did (Trying to prevent buyers remorse!)

Enlighten me!

Not really sure. Guessing that it would be very hard to get below $5000 and that above $30000 is on the high side. Does also depend on the letter a lot. A and E are great before numbers.

So it's definately a dot come name you purchased, correct?

Yes, that is correct. It is a .com and the letter and number together produce 40,000,000 results in Google (Not that this is rare with two-letter domains).

Thanks for the input so far!

Here are the recent sales comparables (this year):

2u.com $58,000.00 02/26/07
1p.com $22,000.00 01/26/07
c6.com $14,630.00 02/15/07
s8.com $10,600.00 02/16/07
o4.com $8,000.00 03/27/07
o5.com $6,300.00 04/27/07

You can excluse 2u.com, as it obviously is not random. So, based on this it appears there is an issue with "quality" - I would think that C and S are of higher quality lettering than "o".

But it looks as if youve made a quality purchase.

Sorry but I'll be the bad guy here. I don't see much value in them. They seem like speculative domains, just bought to be sold.

Are you buying it to sell it? Is the buyer buying to sell it?

Sure there is a limited number of those two character domains and the demand probably exceeds the supply but other than that, I don't get it?

Who is going to develop them?

Anyway, don't pay too much attention to me. I am not on the "demand" side.

Good luck with it.

I think the title of this thread is a little misleading you said two letter domains when your example refers to two character domains. Number are not letters! I think a number and a letter will generally be worth less than two letters but there will be exceptions to that rule.

I really don't see a lot of development with number and letter combinations but there are exceptions. 2u.com is obviously a hack for the words "To You". I could see a company like African American Auto Association of America preferring a domain like A5.com instead of AAAAA.com. I just made them up by the way and I don't think there will be many companies that have extreme names like that.

I updated your thread title.

$7k would be a great deal. Letter+number.com are generally worth more than number+letter.com domains. Besides the rarity/novelty value, these are very brandable.

Thanks for updating the thread RJ! Didn't mean to deceive anyone (Although if it got you to read this thread it was worth it!)

I have been somewhat vague because that is just good policy until the deal is settled. I am just about to that point, and will be happy to tell everyone (who ever cares) the name of the domain.

I can say that it is not just a random number letter combo, even though at first I kind of thought it was. It is actually a dictionary word, albeit not the most used word.

Update-Sale Complete!

The domain is B6.com. Which, if you know much about vitamin supplements, you will recognize one of the more popular B Vitamins is B6. It's the Raphael Palmeiro supplement of choice.

Not an incredible name but I'm sure there are worse!

Thanks guys! Great feedback!

As far people knowing how much I paid for it; I could care less who knows! At the very least this can be seen as an educational post to some hopefully.

I am not sure if I will develop or sell, but I am positive if I decide to sell the value I get for this domain will not be affected in any way from this post.

Congrats, nice pick up. B6 is not random.
To answer your question, the most I would pay for a random CC.com with no obvious meaning is $2,000
