I was just wondering what would be a reasonable amount of money to spend on domains 3LL or 33L or L3L or 3L3 dot com domains (domains that have two letters one number or two numbers one letter.)
It would be used for resell.
What in your expert opinion would be a bargain or good snag?
Reason I am asking is because i just saw MI0.com (with zero) sell for $115
I almost bid on it but then i thought nahhh. Lets see what experts say.

Thanks in advance

Take a look at the guide here:
3character.com/priceguide.html

Scroll down to the proper chart. Note that those prices are for the bottom - of - the - barrel names, something like QX0, and better names are worth more.

Still it seems to me that ebay is running somewhat high for 3 char names, compared to the price guide. 3character.com is run by Zesty Domains, a regular here. I wonder what he thinks about this.

3char price guide, I believe, was made to be (as mentioned) a very, very bottom price level for reseller/wholesale prices. IOW, site unseen, letters unknown, how much would a reseller buy a domain for that contains the characteristics as described.

Here is the list of eBay auction prices in the last ten days for 3 character .coms. I may have missed some:

4uk.com $810. - (reserve not met - no sale)
-------------------------------------------
f4o.com $162.
w4i.com $203.
u4p.com $100.
d4q.com $100.
r4e.com $203.
m4q.com $100.
m4o.com $152.50
v4q.com $46. (reserve not met - no sale)
o4f.com $152.50
h4k.com $202.50
------- The 10 above were the same seller -----
9wj.com $90.
2y0.com $105.50
z5h.com $95.
xw7.com $113.50
6iw.com $107.50

iw0.com closes tomorrow, has a $129. bid.

I go back to Grrrila's point that there is little end user buying in the three character market. 4hk.com has meaning and both buyers and seller seemed to see that, yet I am not sure what you would use it for - mostly stuff comes from Hong Kong! And I notice that if you count "o" as a bad letter (for character domains), only r4e.com in the above list does not have a bottom or second tier to the bottom bad letter.

Hello All,

Accentnepal and Allan are both right on the money.

3 Character .com domains are doing very well on the resale market, though they do seem to lag behind LLL and NNN domains in end-user sales. I've also noticed those sales on Ebay as well, and they do seem to be surprisingly strong, particularly for those that contain the lesser letters and the number "0."

The price guide does tend to reflect the minimum wholesale value for the worst letter/number/character combinations. Allan is right on in that the listed prices try to represent the highest price the highest paying reseller would pay site unseen for any LLL, NNN or 3 Character type domain, regardless of letter or number quality (as based on recent sales data).

I do hope this is helpful 220volt and I wish you good fortune as you delve into 3 character domaining.

Thank you,
zesty

Remember, it takes only a few buyers determined to "win" to push eBay prices out of line. Hopefully they will run out of money soon.

Thank a lot goys. It is much clearer now.

I thought I'd buy few of 3 carachter domains and hang on to them for a while.
Just as in investment Who knows maybe in a year or two those are going to be worth a lot.
