Just regged MorePartyPoker.com.

I'm not familiar with any gambling website. Is this a good name for the poker site? Would help me to find good list of jargon that used in gambling website frequently?

Thanks in advance!

Not challenging anyone, but I wonder: wouldn't that be a controversial/legally arguable TM infringement. Party, Poker, More - not only common English words and part of pop culture but the way they are put together can be argued to be within realm of normal English (meaning if you are going to say TurtlePoker, that's a tough sell if there's a company with that moniker as there's now way to suggest that's part of regular language)...

Then again - at the end of the day justice and law has little to do with reality/business - the big guys can afford to keep you in court until you turn blue or your pockets are empty...

I do wonder about the TM issue from a logical/legal/theoretical POV.

"PartyPoker" is Trademarked

If you use the domain for a poker related site, you are breaking the law expecially if you are making money off of it.

Thanks for all of your feedback!
I didn't even know "PartyPoker" is TM'ed ,Bummer :td:

Does this mean all the domain name has XBOX, PlayStation, Wii would have same issue? I'm a novice of this domain business. Anyone kind enough to explain this for me or any newbie out there. THanks

This could be said for practically any domain name TM violation, it is a feeble argument and you can bet ICANN will dish the domain over in the blink of an eye. Poor logic behind that argument really, just adding a prefix or suffix doesnt make it exclusive.

Like mentioned above, huge TM issues.

I would scrap that domain and move on.

Don't worry about developing it as ICANN will snatch it up in a flash.

I didn't realize there was a reply here until now.

You misread the point.
The argument doesn't relate to prefix or suffix of a legitimate trademark - (UglyIBM would be rightfully contested); but rather: the controversial issue of trademarking of pop-culture or identifying language. Far from it being what you call a 'feeble argument', it is one of the basics of trademark law.

Take for example, Apple - as in Apple Computers: 'Granny Smith Apple' is NOT an infringement of their trademark. It has NOTHING to do with the prefix (Granny Smith) but everything to do with the word 'Apple'. Because it is part of identifying language (and/or popular culture) it cannot be soley owned and held by a private entity (see next point before you reply, some do contest that Apple committed trademark infringement itself).

That said: the law is maleable, up for interpretation or in lamens: rules are meant to be challenged...by overpaid lawyers... Attempts (some successful) by corporations to effectively OWN language and culture are plentiful and never ending.

Like I said though - truth & realizable justice are different animals, not often found in the same environment.

How about PartyPennies.com?

TM issue?

If there is a company called PokerPennies that has it trademaked then yes.

Watch out for the TMd DNs especially the gambling companies... they don't like it when you take there name and use it for the same thing.

There are soooo many poker DNs out there... MorePartyPoker.com would still be low to mid XX if there were no TM issue... IMO.

Not actually always the case. I emailed Pacific Poker to ask their company stance on using their name to promote their program and they said they didn't mind but just asked if I could run the site by them once it was finished.

Just my 2 cents ;)
