Moniker sent domain expiration email a month late

Apparently Moniker's system had a flaw with their emails so my domain name PPBB.net expired without my knowledge. I received the email exactly a month after I was supposed to. I contacted their support yesterday on the phone and clearly showed they are at fault. The women I was talking to was having trouble hearing me and said she would call back. I never received that call. (That really ticked me off)

I then sent an email explaining the situation and haven't heard back yet. They did tell me there is no way to get my name back because it's at auction for $59. (Talk about a lot of BS)

I never used Moniker. I only had 2 names with them. This is no way to treat a customer especially when you're at fault. I paid $50 for that name, and even turned down a $100 offers days after purchasing it. They just cost me money I can't afford to lose at this point in my life. I know it's a bad idea to rely on emails, but this still isn't right in so many ways.

The reminders are a courtesy, no guarantee you will ever receive them, in particular with the amount of spam flooding the net.

It's time to create an excel sheet with domains + birthday date.

Even with that, I'm still pretty angered by the way they treated me. That was uncalled for. I know she got the correct number because she read it off to me after I told her. I wish I knew who it was.

Just talked to Moniker again. By luck I ended up talking to the same person on the phone again. Apparently she had phone problems and couldn't get a hold of me. I got my domain back too. Somehow I have two accounts with them and it was under the other or something. I'm still confused by the cause of the issue. Somehow the domain wasn't expired, but about to. I'm not really sure and don't really care. I'm just glad to have it back.

that sucks, I use Domain Monitor Service - Be alerted when a domain's status changes and fabulous.com monetization account which both automatically alert me and on the manual side I use Domain Name Portfolio - DomainPortfolio.us and a spreadsheet and a manual printout of each registrar, you don't have to utilize 5+ methods like me but 2 is safer than just 1 method.

Hi,

The other tools are:
1. Automatic Renewal
2.Cash in account and/or an updated ,valid payment method

well, you need to bid back your domain for at least $59 due to they don't remind you about the expiration domain alerts.

OP said he already got the issue resolved.

Just the other day I realized I lost a domain at DynaDot from them not sending out a renewal alert.

I'm not going to be a crybaby about it since it's my fault, but it's highly annoying.

For the record....

Expiration emails ARE sent every Monday 45 days prior to the expiration date.

Thankfully all was resolved and Travis got his name back.

Why anyone would let a domain they intend to keep expire or even get close to expiry is beyond me .. On top of relying on emails from the registrar .. Schoolboy errors, both of them

I find that quite hard to believe .. If anything Dynadot go overboard with renewal notices .. At 60, 30, 10 and 3 days before expiry, plus an 'expired email' ... On top of that, even if your domain has expired it remains in your account for roughly 40 days and can still be renewed with no penalty.

I'm serious. There was nothing. I searched my email and the only thing that came up was notices from last year for another domain.

Maybe it was a conspiracy.

I only use Name Cheap and Go daddy. I purchased this name and that's where it was. I have to rely on emails because I'm too busy to check otherwise. I have domain names at about 7 different places. I don't have time to keep up with it because I'm a student and also can't do automatic renewal because I won't always have the money in my account.

Wait for the cheap $2.99 godaddy or $not sure namecheap transfer sales
and move them over there one at a time if you have to.
It'll add a year as well so double bonus.

Glad it worked out :tu:
